Divergent squint and visual processing difficulties

DS 5 has a divergent squint which seems to be correcting itself. However he has poor depth perception, for instance he can't tell the difference between stickers/flaps and printed pictures in sticker/lift the flap books. In a messy room he cannot pick out an object.

He's been to opticians about a year ago and apparently isn't short or long sighted. How do I get his eyesight properly assessed? What can we do to improve his eyesight?

Sorry if this sounds pathetic. DS has lots of small problems which all add up. I'm trying to unravel them.

Ideally I'd like ds1 to get a thorough visual exam from someone who both tumble and indigo rate reasonably highly.

One of the university optometrist training clinics? Or a BABO optician?

maria, defintly go for a uni based one , in my opinion. No one is trying to make a profit and they have all the up to date knowledge and training.

Skewiff, dont worry Im not offended at all, thats why Im here, and willing to find out about these things. what thereapies have you had to improve your childs squint?
I am a firm believer in profesionals working together, I think some of these therapies must work , but some cannot.

I am going to a course in March which is to find out more about these things.

Maria - what SN does your child have?

Thanks for the Nadia Northam suggestion tumble8. I'll chase that up.

Tumble, so far we have not worked on DS's squint.

I did 6 months with a BO, but she just did reflex inhibition therapy and i decided to move to hemispheres, who also do RRT - as DS has complex physical needs. Hemispheres are OT's (our therapist is anyway) and this is best for DS at the moment.

i am planning to go back to a BO or TH once DS's reflexes have been treated.

Thanks tumble, and indigo.. He has ADHD (meds help) and ASD, and is quite anxious with a bunch of sensory issues. Definitely auditory and tactile, plus some vestibular. visual processing seems a bit of a struggle, not exactly clear-cut massive problems but definitely not quite right.
