Intensive speech therapy course for improving conversation skills

I was just looking at the link on the other thread about the DM article and Melanie Skypes son having autism. It mentions about her son having an intensive two weeks speech therapy course which helped his speech to improve quickly. Can anybody recommend such course? We will be in the UK for three wks summer time, and would like to see if DS could attend one. DS is 6.6 and has functional language, but no conversation skills.

Where in the uk will you be coming to?

Think she refers to ipan therapy in the article, ipan is a charity that treats autistic behaviour in infants and its very intensive programme from what I read, not sure if they treat children.

Starlight - are you aware of any conversational skills courses then? I'm in London.

London. I looked at that ipan website, it's for babies i think, but it made me think if there is any such course for ds's age. We would probably be staying in around south east (surrey) and london, but would not mind staying in a hotel or self catering place outside london if we have to.

No. But if I can find some kiddies of similar stage to ds I was thinking of trying to hire an ABA trained SALT to run something for a group of 3 or 4.

I've been looking for such a group forever and finally figure as always if you want something done properly you need to do it yourself.
