If you go on a website called. Beyondautism.org.uk there is a section called 'what is ABA' and also 'what is VB (a form of ABA)'

It's really helped our dc and family, although we did a child led approach, verbal behaviour.

Hi I have been on the beyond autism website and read about ABA and VB it sounds good but do you know how I would go about learning more on how to apply it please?

It all depends on what your DC needs, but essentially you start by finding a consultant to help you set up a programme, and you may also need / want tutors to help you teach it.

We are doing 'ABA-lite' which is consultant observes and discusses and shows me how to do things, backed up with recommendations, so it's all on me. But DS is HF and we don't get any funding or anything like that. It's very expensive, some people use DLA to pay for it and some authorities will fund but again, it depends on severity and need. My consultant says the further south you are the better chance you have of getting it funded or statmented Smile - there's only one child in the whole of Scotland who has funded ABA!

There are loads of experts on here though who know more than me, we're just dipping our toes in the water - hopefully someone else will be along later.
