yes, but have seen your other thread- don't know if it counts as Richmond LA or Surrey.

will have a quick look, hang on.

silverfrog · 01/02/2012 11:51

aha - it is apparently London borough of Richmond. so not Surrey then.

Maryellenwalton · 01/02/2012 12:12

We're in Richmond. It's in the county of Surrey (or probably just 'Greater London' now), but as Silverfrog says it is in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 01/02/2012 12:12

we're not in Richmond but like a lot of the outer sw london boroughs as far as address goes we're Surrey.

StarlightMcKenzie · 01/02/2012 12:17

Lol, the question of course is who will we be taking to tribunal if we live there?

this whole postcode lottery on where to live, so that you know you have a better chance of winning a place in a neighbouring borough's schools is a complete farce.

we live in Surrey - dd1 goes to school in East Sussex.

we can't move closer to the school, as don't want to jeopardise the statement. we're trying to buy a house atm (fed up of renting, and reasonably sure we'll be staying put for a while) - found one w liked.

Croydon postcode. so again, wrong borough. but no! it's ok, it's in a Surrey LA, not Croydon. but wrong train station for dh.

makes my bloody head spin. too many variables.

all we want is a house we can afford, which will not force a reopening of dd1's statement, where dh can get to work, and where I can get both dds to school without spending half my life doing so (and spending the GDP of a small country in diesel costs), but we are stuck on county borders, or LA borders, where everyhting is just the wrong side of the tracks.

I know SF. Sad. not saying our situation is worse but we have the added delight of sorting this according to a deadline set by tribunal.

I suppose the good news is that there is an end in sight though.

oh yeah - that was us 2 years ago.

now we have pissed out savings up the wall on extortionate rent, and need to buy before we run out of money.

it's shit.

but we had a phone session with our consultants last night, and I realised as I was talking through where we were at, and what is going on with the dds, that I now see dd1 as 'just' another child going to school.

no panic.

no massive research from me, because they must be missing something, or not trying something.

no worry (well, of course there is always worry, but not about her schooling iyswim) about her in general.

for now.

I am 'just' her mum again, not her educational consultant, not her tutor, not her lawyer, or her advocate.

it will happen for you too, Star. I am a couple of years further down than you, that is all. dd1 is Yr3 equivalent. and we are just beginning to live the family life we shoudl have had for the last 5 years... but it is here now.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 01/02/2012 12:34

if you live in the london borough of richmond upon thames then that is who you'd be up against in tribunal, not surrey. Whether that's any better though . . .

Maryellenwalton · 01/02/2012 12:58

Yes the LEA is Richmond. Who are a helluva lot better than Surrey from all I've ever heard
