Melatonin question

Hello all,

I am new here. Have two DS each with Aspergers (10 and 8). I was reading some old posts here and someone posted worried that her child was chewing his melatonin. Mine both chew theirs; its the only way they can get them down. Is this a problem? Please dont say so as I dont know what we would do without it!

Thanks for all the interesting advice and posts on here.

Don't know about chewing but I do crush dd's melatonin tablets to a very fine powder and them mix it in her milk or juice. It doesn't seem to have a taste as she is highly defensive and would surely notice. This does mean that it isn't slow release as it would be if she just swallowed the tablets but it gets her to sleep nevertheless.

Thanks - I think you are right, chewing them must just mean that they are instant rather than slow release, but that is OK for us as the main problem Ds has is with falling asleep rather than staying asleep.
