we do see the funny side of life in this house three kids with autism/literal thinkers and to be honest it does make the bad times more bareable, tell us your kids funny comments/observations
o.k i will start, we took our twin girls plus DS(aged 8)and his girlfriend to eat out in a local eating place, we walked in and it was very busy, DS was stressing about the noise levels ect, waitress came over and said, i am sorry but we don't have any tables, DS (very loudly) Mum clearly she is a lair there are lots of tables the room is full of them
we left quickly but not quietly

OK one from today. My mum said "i'm just going to go to the loo and head home" and off she went. Ds1 was screaming the place down. i assumed it was over a door or something and ignored it. Then I went up to him and said "show me" (was fed up of the noise after 10 minutes of it). Anyway he made me sit down on the toilet (didn't go) then when I stood up he flushed it. So obviously he missed my mother going, or she changed her mind or something. No idea. Insane.

yeah we often have no idea, then comes the lightbulb moment when it clicks, its like having to be a detective half the time, i remember being out with the girls and DD2 kept aksing if she could watch the garlic bread video when she got home, much questioning on my behalf got me nowhere, we got home she ran in got the video and showed it me, it was "the herbs"

Had it 2 days ago as well. Screaming, tears pouring down his face. Every time I said "show me" he shoved my hand beneath the telephone table where the phone directories are. Went through the pile, still screaming, bit of hitting himself for good measure (he was naked as well- half way through getting changed after school- strips off as soon as he gets home and I get him dressed again). evenetually he looked at the wall, and it dawed on me- I'd taken the calendar down to make an appointment earlier in the day, and hadn't put it back up. He obviouly thought it was in the telephone directory pile. back on the wall, peace in 2 seconds.

Not sure if I've posted this before but it still makes me laugh when I think about it....
daughter takes things very literaly..

DD9 (AS tendencies) was listening to MILs conversation...
MIL.... Blar Blar Blar... when we host the olympics...
DD9.... Really Nanny..when (eyes big like saucers)
MIL.... Yes dear, we're going to host the olympics in 2012...
DD..... Nan... can I be in it....

DD thought that her Nan was going to host the Olympics... perhaps in the back garden??
[bless her]

Me : Noah can you spell the word Christmas?

Noah: C H R I S T M A S

Me : You are clever!

Noah: screams the place down for awhile then says
"I not clever I Noah"

I think he thought I forgot his name or something
I have got hundreds of these.

DS was driving me mad one day so i told him to "get lost" (before we knew he was ASD i hasten to add),

5 mins later he came downstairs with a backpack and said "you said get lost, im going to get lost"

Dh had to chase down the street and bring him back and it took us ages to make him see we didnt really want him to be lost

Most recent one.

I was trying to watch tele whilst ds was sitting in front of it.

Me: Please could you move a bit, I can't see anything.

Ds: Yes you can, you can see my head.
