My son is 6 months old and is doing very well but it would be nice to have some company/compare notes/share experiences.

Looking forward to meeting you:)

The other nice thing about the DSE event was that at least one person had brought their baby, a similar age to mine. When DD was born I was almost desperate need to meet other babies as well as other parents, just to have a better idea of the variety of children with DS and to feel reassured. I didn't know any and I was so curious. Both through the DSE event and my local DSA Christmas party, and through friends of friends, I have now met quite a few children and its lovely to see them, make connections, chat to older children, see how DD relates to them, talk to their families etc - completely have this in common with Sonora. Is this a familiar feeling for anyone else?

Hi Big, I would love to meet a child with DS with similar issues/diagnosis to my son, however I'm yet to meet one. I don't get to meet up with many at functions/events etc although I do know quite a few. Hopefully June 10th I will see/meet a few more at the down syndrome big meet up at Scarborough beach. I'm hoping as it's outdoors my son may do it even if it's from a distance. If it helps and you are on facebook, there are loads of groups and parents etc on there if ever you want to join. HTH x

Hi ladies - I am another proud mum of 2 little girls aged almost 4 years and 19 months (19 month old has Down's syndrome).
I can definitely recommend Future of Down's as was recommended earlier in the thread and there is an affilliated facebook group which you can access by looking on the home page of the FoD website. Its very friendly over there and lots of parents are available to meet / chat. We also have overseas members and parents of older children.
Also check out the blog on the main website:

FoD's didn't work for me, a few didn't like my opinions/honesty and although I am on the website I find it's also not helpful. Hence why I didn't single one support group as a point of direction. However this is from my perspective and like I said I'm as yet to meet/find someone who has been through similar.
