think he is just about out grown his rear facing one.

is an extended rear facing car seat a possibility? you can get RF toddler seats that go up to 18 or (in some cases) 25kg - my small nearly 5 year old is still in one.

obv not a SN seat, but all the support you get from rear facing (some are a bit more upright so best to check)

The In-Car Safety Centre at Milton Keynes is always recommended as being really good and helpful - they have loads you can try out in your car (if going there is possible) but are also very nice and knowledgable over the phone too, and know what might fit etc.

cheers sliverfrog, he's in an extended rear facing one ATM this one
which is supposed to last until they are 5 but DS has an extention pattern which make his legs clamp together, when he does this the hard plastic buckle digs into his thighs and this aft he was crying in pain on the motorway.
We have removed the padded seat bit which seems to have helped but this will only help until he grows a bit more. but it really is a lovely seat and will keep it incase we have another DC. Smile

oh, sorry, didn't realise. that's the seat my dd2 is in - it is a nice seat, what a shame it doesn't suit. I was just going by the 'small' bit of your description.

you might have someluck posting int he products section (or the car seat section -- I don't think I've made that up Grin). there are some posters about with good info on the different seats and positioning etc.

Hiya, I'd second in-car safety in MK, we went there and they were absolutely fantastic (also give great advice over the phone if you live too far away). DD has Low muscle tone too (she has Down's) and they recommended this Kiddy car seat as it holds her in place firmly & is far safer for her in case we ever have a crash.

More importantly, DD absolutely loves it! :)

small not a great discriptive word lol, petit but lanky? or long legs small arse? he' the height of a short 3 year old but weighs that of an 18month old!
DS really loves that seat, he's high enough to sit out of the window loves watching the lorries! and I feel just that little bit happier that it's rear facing.
It's so supportive too so even when DS was younger and floppier he was comefortable in it.
I will look in the reviews section ta

Meant to add they do these in sizes 1 & 123 so should be able to find a seat to fit, they also sell them in John Lewis if you have one near by and want to try them out.

HTH x
