Heh, it's JakB here, sorry I've been so crap. Hope everybody is OK. Thrilled to read about TC's new baby. I'm having a grey old time here in Brighton and another wrangle with the LEA! Just feeling a bit flat for no particular reason. How's everybody else?

Hello Jakb

Sorry to hear you are still having LEA problems. What is it with LEA's, don't they realise how much stress they add to the situation{I suppose they don't actaully care}

My ds is doing some mainstreaming which is going very well. School really looking after him.

Hellooooo JakB!

buzylizy · 17/01/2006 17:17

Hi JakB
I am new to this forum. I see you live in Brighton so do I .

Blossomhill · 17/01/2006 19:09

Hello honey
I am okay. Dd is just dd really! Seriously considering medication for her hyperactivity/Adhd but have a 13 wk wait to see Camhs so trying to plod on!
I too am feeling really flat and down. I would die for a holiday I really would. Somewhere hot and away from anywhere would be great
So what's happened with the lea?

InternationalGirl · 17/01/2006 19:18

Hi JakB - sorry to hear the LEA is being so crap with you.

Writing from South Africa now. Our move has gone pretty well, kids settled into school fantastically, especially dd2 with her special needs - her kindergarten teacher is a trained speech language therapist!

Baby no. 3 due March 25th - looking forward to starting maternity leave in about 6 weeks, YAY and the new addition too - we've found out it's a little boy after 2 girls so his daddy is eagerly awaiting his arrival!

How's your kids? Have you taken a look at RDI too with RnB and Monica2? We've been using some of the techniques with dd2 and it has shown progress we are pleased with.

Hope things get better for you soon

Hello everybody, IG that is such exciting news and so glad it's going well for you. Blossom, I know what you mean. I think I am in serious need of a holiday. Haven't been on a beach for a week for nearly 5 years! (mind you I know that is par for the course). Oh it's a long story, the LEA agreed for DD's therapists to go into school with her, on the statement they are meant to withdraw this term but school haven't appointed anybody else, nobody has PECS training so DH and I are currently funding DD's 1:1. LEA just being really rude, no people skills as usual. Busylizy, that's great! Whereabouts to you live? Which shool do your DS's go to?Socci, good luck with statementing honeyXX

hi Jakbe
She goes to a school out of town(don't want to name it but mostly kids with cp go there and it is near lewes)
And I live in the coombe road area. how about you?

JakB · 18/01/2006 17:39

Oh, I know the one you mean honey. I live off Dyke Road, near Tivoli and Preston Park station. My DD goes to Downs View in Woodingdean. My DS is at nursery. Be great to meet for a coffeeX

that would be good. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the LEA I am lucky and had no problems saying that I might have when she moves to secondry in september as not so sure they will be able to meet her needs then. Do you use the playscheme out there. Ds went to the one in portslade for one day(my sw was late with forms so all I got) and she loved it.

buzylizy · 18/01/2006 17:58

sorry meant dd ds is 13 doesn't do playschemes

MABS · 18/01/2006 18:19

Hiya jak hun, I emailed you but it bounced back darling. Sorry things are sh*te at the mo, if it makes you feel better, I'm crap too. Ds has now become incontinent, is stammering and now needs botox for the cp. I'm seeing more docs than i thought existed. Coffee at some point? xx

amynnixmum · 18/01/2006 18:26

Hi JakB

Sorry to hear they are still giving you a hard time.

I went to a support meeting last night (my first) and the women that runs it said that Bedfordshire LEA have been found to have written illegal statements by making them so loosely written that schools can pretty much do as they please. Apparently they have had to recall and rewrite 320 statements.

This women has also managed to get the DFES and Ruth Kelly(or whoever is the Minister for Education) involved in her fight against our local LEA and the DFES has agreed to a formal investigation. Apparently they never get involved so this could set a precedant. Its taken her 2 years to get this far but hopefully her case might make a difference across the country.

amynnixmum · 18/01/2006 18:29

Oh - I forgot to say that ds is doing really really well. He should be a poster boy for how sn children can succeed if they are given the right level and kind of support. Just hope the LEA don't see his improvement as an excuse to remove funding in May as I know he will not cope without his 1:1 support.

Davros · 19/01/2006 22:37

Hi JakB, you live in Brighton so don't you get to spend every day on the beach Sorry to hear LEA are crap and rude Any chance of you popping up to London to meet some of us next Tues? 11am at Royal Academy. Oh, and bring me that Northern Soul compilation or I won't talk to you!

getbakainyourjimjams · 19/01/2006 22:45

YOU are funding her 1:1, that's terrible!!!! Oh and God tell me all about lack of PECS training (mind you that was in mainstream, isn;t your dd in special school? How can there be no-one PECS trained in a special school). Mind boggles.

JakB · 22/01/2006 19:09

Yeah, all complete madness. They are addressing the PECS training, us funding the 1:1 is kind of my fault for not putting enough pressure on the school but anyway all should be resolved this week!
