Does anyone know of a good place to buy a weighted blanket? Are there bargains to be had? The cheapest I've found so far is around £90 which I can't afford at the moment. Hoping someone out there might know Smile

I was watching this thread hoping for some inspiration as I feel thats the next big purchase.
Is this what you are looking for? www.amazon.co.uk/Climagel-Weighted-Blanket-13-2lbs-Orange/dp/B0044XFDE2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_d_1
There are quite a few tutorials on the net for make-your-own which is I presume a cheaper option- especially if you are making it for a child as you can increase the weight as they get older (if you feel the need).
The suggested weight is 10%of your child's weight plus 1lb.
www.weightedblankets.co.uk/ has information.

Sorry for all the links- something may be useful for you! I am looking at this company www.weight2goblankets.co.uk/9.html and will be checking out prices.

thanks for the info - I did think of making my own but I don't even have a sewing machine so it would take me ages. There is someone on ebay selling a 7lb duvet sized blanket for around £60 which seems to be very good value.

I got dd4s one from sensory direct .
It was over £100 , but was the only one that i could find that is washable . its made with non toxic plastic beads inside. Some have wheat or other unwashable stuff as fillings.

Washable was more important than price , to me , because at that time she was a smearer iykwim? .

sensory direct do lap pads and chewys and loads of lovely stuff !

I made mine! The polybeads are available on ebay and cost me about £15.00. I made a cotton panel with a grid of pockets and put an equal amount of beads into each one - then I stitched it onto a thin duvet and I put a normal duvet cover on it. DS loves it. I showed it to the staff in his special school and they though it was great.

Forgot to add I just bung it in the washing machine when it needs it!

I make them. But can't offer to help at the Mo as have too many to do for friends. They are very easy and each one costs me under £20 to make.
