And that's all I have to say about that!

And so says all of us.

Is that a pre tribunal rant or a post tribunal rant?

bochead · 05/01/2012 23:23

please say it's pre tribunal?

Any way the way he's going I think my lad will be leading the next global revolutionWink (still recovering from having to restrain on London underground the other day).

Tribunal has been postponed, indefinately it would seem. Dunno whether it would be faster to now just go to the annual review in April and resubmit appeal than stick with this one Hmm

ABA has been too effective. There is no provision for him in the UK it seems. Too capable for special school. Even been rejected from indpendent mainstream school that prides itself on 'inclusion' and having access to 'specialisms' because ds is too capable and too advanced and yet, all the experts are quite clear he would not manage mainstream and that he has outgrown Lovaas. Hmm

Now, you and I know that ABA isn't Lovaas, but expert advice (and we have REALLY sought it out) is that our programme is now unrecognisable as an ABA programme as it has developed to meet ds' needs (well obviously - that is what ABA IS) and it would be like arguing for one eclectic approach against another (well obviously again - as that is what ABA IS!) and we have been advised many times over that tribunal panels are too thick to understand that, nevermind LAs, even thought the overwhelming conclusion is that his programme is perfect for him.

So we could go onto our 4th solicitor, 3rd EP if we like, but honestly we ended up paying for some BIG ONES due to having received some 'evidence' annonymously through our door that showed there has been some VERY dirty play. (I now know who sent them and it is a source I trust)

But still, our eclectic approach that no-one understands but ds' is progressing brilliantly on is STILL cheaper than the LA's provision.

I have no faith in anyone now!

It's pre Boch, and sorry, I don't want to say anything to sabotage your confidence and morale.

I think you probably have an inkling where I'm coming from though, judging by some of your other posts so I hope you're not especially horrified or surprised.

Oddly I seem to have won tribunal which means the health team have given me the tertiary referral I fought a year for, so I'm at the licking my wounds stage after also suffering dirty play last year.

This might sound daft but bear with me OK? My GP Uncle is convinced the ideal environment for my lad is one of those dozen kid primary schools in the outer boonies of Wales or Scotland+ a ta/statement (statement to allow devaition from NC) . It was actually summat I was working towards till everything blew up in my face early last year. I KNOW it sounds nuts but would summat like that (approx 12 kids from 4-11 in the whole school house) suit your DS?

It's not a SS but communities like that are by their very nature much more personalised than most mainstream.

Fell free to grab the tena lady if you think it's a nuts idea.

HTF do you outgrow aba when major corporates use it for big city roller types?

StarlightMcKenzie · 05/01/2012 23:43

Funny you should say all that Boch Grin

As miserable a bugger as I might come across, one of my strengths is that I always 'Have a Plan!' But you understand why it isn't going to be detailed here.

And wrt your last sentence. Tribunal panels aren't usually made up of people that have any experience of major corporates. Although you are spot on.

Boc - if you google 'Human Scale Education' you'll find a list of very small schools .
