I am so sick of appointments.....does anyone else want to wish with me for less in 2012?!

Ds has 3 appointments in the next 2 weeks, he was in hospital over Christmas plus had 2 trips to out of hours drs and 1 routine appointment with gp. He had an mri scan and a raft of blood tests in the 2 weeks before that. I am so sick of hospitals, and drs (most of whom are lovely, by the way!)

So if anyone wants to link hands and make a wish that there will be less appointments in 2013, then please do so here!Smile

Lisa, all they know is that he has an extra bit on one of his chromasones. They aren't sure what this means for him and they want to look at mine, dh's and ds2's chromasones before they tell us anything because at the moment they've only got part of the information they need.

hazeyjane they did that when ds2 was tested for spinal muscular atrophy too. DS3 doesn't have a genetic condition confirmed yet, they just know he has a mutation in one of his chromasones. So it could be benign, it could be what ds2 has (still waiting for his results) or he could be a carrier of whatever caused my miscarriages. So giving me a string of letters and numbers would have been pointless normally but when I had the most recent miscarriage and they were asking if there were any genetic conditions in my family I realised that it would have been handy to know.

I thought of this thread today as DS's paediatrician said we didn't need to come back for 12 months! i nearly skipped out there with joy!

We do however have three more appointments in the next 2 weeks, I have to chase for a gait analysis that's supposed to be in Feb and DS is due a major op with 6 - 8 weeks in hospital sometime in the next 6 months BUT... appointments a year apart really seems like progress!

bigbluebus · 05/01/2012 17:48

hairy I can trump that one. At DD's orthopaedic appt before Christmas (spinal consultant) the consultant said "no point in dragging you back here every 12 mths - here is my secretary's number - call her if there are any problems and you need an appointment with me". Halleluliah that's one off the list.

Dh and I usually pack chocolate and takeaway coffee in the car for the journey back, as he usually has to rush back to work and I have to rush to get girls. I hadn't even considered appointments when dcs are older and don't want to be dragged to and from hospital!

Just spoke to paed who we had appointment with on Weds and she threw all sorts of stuff at me that hadn't even been mentioned in the appointment - why do they always do that!!!

(Justa - how strange about your friend's ds, who looks like my ds!! He is walking really well behind a walker, I can't believe how much he has come on!)

He certainly is cute! Oh and yes he does get carried a lot and now won't sleep unless being held .... urgh. He is walking behind a knackered old v-tech walker, hopefully the monkey may be going, he is seeing the physio next week, another appointment........
