Sigh......

And it was going so well. Actually managed to find DD2 some school shoes which both looked and felt acceptable (so I bought 2 pairs!) and some trousers which looked and felt ok too! I should have known it was too good to last.

Tomorrow is a TD day but we're taking granny out for her birthday so I gently suggested she might like to check if there was any homework that needed to be done.

Very Bad Idea.

2 hours of throwing and shouting and tears later........

The flipping drama sheet is flipping lost and DD is now flipping out over it.

No matter how many times I point out that IT IS NOT WORTH IT she just gets more and more tense. I don't care about flipping drama. It is just not worth so much stressing over.

ARGH!

I made mistake of mentioning returning to school on Wednesday while in the car on way home from zoo.
Dd1 has been upstairs sobbing for last hour. It's going to be hell tomorrow. She's refusing to leave her room or talk to me Sad

AtYourCervix · 02/01/2012 19:10

it is horrible. it makes me feel sick so god knows what it's doing to her. Sad

I really feel for you, have had 3 years of that with Dd3.

She is quite calm atm, but haven't tried to put her to bed yet. If anything she is slightly hyper.

[She is currently squabbling with Dd2 over who opened the bathroom window fgs.]

No suggestions, sorry just sympathy.Sad

Sorry to hear that, it is the opposite for me. Thankfully my household stuggles during the holiays, and going back to school is a good thing (after short breaks anyway).

DS2 (asd) prefers the routine of school, and the others are looking forward to seeing friends

I am dreading next sunday night Sad

lisad123 · 02/01/2012 20:15

I know after a week she will hate home as school routines will kick in.

AtYourCervix · 02/01/2012 20:44

if only i thought it would be better once she's there but it won't be. she hates school.always has, always will. it's jsut awful with absolutely no solution or option.

Hmm think I spoke to soon, It has taken Dd3 2 hours to get to sleep.

Ho hum, wonder what the morning will be like.

Becaroooo · 02/01/2012 22:34

Everything is ready - uniform, PE bag, school bag, coats (choice of 2) - but its still going to be grim.

He was off ill the last week of term which doesnt help - he will have had 3.5 weeks off!!

This term is really short too, only 6 weeks?

Ds2 burst into tears three times within the first half hour of getting up. He doesn't mind school so much but can't cope with the transition between holiday and school. He spent the first three or four days of the Christmas holidays in tears too. Confused

Triggles · 04/01/2012 17:58

It actually went well today. I think DS2 was bemused by the chicken pox (for some reason, once he wasn't feeling miserable, he thought the pox were fascinating Hmm), so that and his new DS that he got for Christmas kept him happy during the holidays. He was excited to go back today to tell everyone in his class that his chicken pox are officially "going away" now... he told me this morning that they won't come back for 100 years. Grin I suppose he's right, eh?

DS3 has the chicken pox now. I think he's less than amused, although apparently DS2 thinks it's "cool." Grin

Finally back to school. Dd2 was ok but a little more "flappy" than normal. Dd1 had meltdown the minute we got there. But she was happy her inserts are broken (I'm not Angry ) which means she can't be told off about her shoes Hmm
She told me they made "wishes for the year" hers were "try not to worry about things that don't matter" & "try to have more friends" Confused

cornsilxkskiy · 04/01/2012 18:28

went okay for us today as well...fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Becaroooo · 04/01/2012 18:59

oh god I am dreading it Sad

ds1 doesnt go back til monday - sunday night will be hideous Sad

coppertop · 05/01/2012 14:02

Yesterday went as badly as it had begun. Ds was still in tears when he came out of class. :(

He looked a lot happier this morning though so there's still hope that he might settle.

ouryve · 05/01/2012 16:22

Sounds so familiar.

DS1 clicked that he was going back to school the next day when DH got home on Tuesday and spent the next 3 hours screaming. Even when he stopped screaming (thank goodness for understanding neighbours) he carried on muttering. He carried it on all the next morning and all of his first day back at school, arguing with his 1:1 about every little thing and refusing to eat lunch, even though all he'd had since Tuesday lunchtime was a bowl of cheerios. To top it all off, I had to push him out of the school door, yesterday because he then refused to leave school.

Contrary simply doesn't cover it!
