dd2 has started licking things, toy cars, puzzles, window and other stuff. Shes four and has autism but never been into licking, so this is new to us.
Anyone found something that works to stop this?

Funny you should say thing, my ds has suddenly been biting things, ie, clothes, my clothes, toys, nothing that can hurt someone but still a bit odd for him.

DD's licking has increased a heck of a lot this past few weeks, she's always licked mirrors and stainless steel, occassionally skin, but now it's almost anything if she's left 'unattended'/

I think it's the added sensory stimulus ie christmas lights and music is affecting her.

DS wants to lick us all the time at the moment.

I wonder if it's something simple like salt or zinc deficiency?

dd2 does this at home. She has however stopped doing it at school. It was just a no licking and redirect to something else which eventually worked there. I allow it at home on her own stuff etc but try and redirect when it's on the tv or windows etc. I think its definitely sensory. My dd loves smooth shiny surfaces. I think it depends how much it bothers you. I also let dd chew toothbrushes because she seems to really need to do it sometimes.
