Hi all, DS1 has 11 dyspraxia and has now broken his leg and is in plaster for a few months. He's been given crutches but is struggling to get around. Over Christmas we don't see a lot of people so usually do days out to museums otherwise we'd all go stir crazy (I have three other DCs and am a SM).

I'm stuck for ideas of what to do. We can't go to the cinema as DS2 is ASD and can't cope with it. We live in the west midlands, any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Ouch. That's a tough one. DS2 is 5yo, plus we have a 2yo that defines all that is "terrible twos" right now Grin and I can't think of what to do either. I'd like to go take them to see Father Christmas, but can't bear to even contemplate the chaos and the crowds. Hmm

Hopefully there'll be some good ideas, sorry I have none!

Not sure wherabout you are near (rubbish at geography) but I was in Swindon other week and they had a fab steam train museum that my 2 yr old and 7 yr old spent hours in! Also great shopping centre and there is soft play nearby

ThinkTank
Severn Valley Railway
WM Safari Park
RAF Cosford museum - which I think is still free to go in

When my DS1(9) with dyspraxia, broke his ankle earlier this year, I hired a wheelchair from the red cross for a returnable £30 deposit for a couple of months. It made any distances so much easier as i don't drive.
Can't quite work out why they gave my DS - or any DC with dyspraxia -crutches. FFS, most of them struggle co-ordinating cutlery, let alone crutches. I also know NT adults that have taken ages to develop a good walking style with crutches!
I don't know how old your other DCs are, but I used to sit my 3 year old on his lap too!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look into wheelchair hire. It might make life a bit easier!
