PHSO - can you imagine if the LGO did this?

I recently made a complaint to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) about our S&LT service.

Following my terrible experience with the LGO, I thought they dealt with the initial query promptly and fairly. It's now been batted back to the health authority for them to deal with properly.

Last week, I got a call from a market researcher wanting feedback about my experience with the PHSO. Lots of detailed questions and plenty of opportunity to feedback about my experience and what I thought about their fairness and impartiality.

Can you imagine the LGO doing this? Not a chance. Perhaps we should all write in with our feedback!

Am impressed.

Yes, perhaps you should suggest that the market researcher does a feedback with the LGO - it would certainly make interesting reading.

Tbh as much as I get frustrated with both out salt and it service I have never come across the blatant disregard for the 'rules' as I have with the LA.

When health bods realise you know your stuff they pay attention and negotiate. Whereas LA bods just laugh in your face.

The useless salt service has been spared much from me because of the professional way they have handled my complaints. Some of their uselessness is justified and they are simply trying hard in difficult circumstances and sometimes it is just because they simply don't have the knowledge or time to explain things.

LA bods are quite happy to sit in meetings for hours giving a million reasons why they can't help your child.

Gloria - perhaps that is why the LA has such blatant disregard for the rules. They know the poor public only have the LGO.

However, the health bods probably engage with parents because the PHSO is more effective.

I think also that health professionals do, in theory at least (!), have ethical responsibilities and professional duties that an oversight body can take action on - such as the Health Professionals Council.

LA officials feel untouchable as their departments are used to lying and covering up and the worst that can happen is that someone will go to the LGO or a councillor. So what, they'll just lie together.

But, what a way to live. I pity the poor fools as Mr T would say!
