And if so, would you mind talking to me about it?

Thanks Xmas Smile

Have you tried posting somewhere else for advice? Might get better response on SEN perhaps?

I used it for DS who has ASD and it helped him a lot.

What do you want to know?

DS is 11 so was able to tell me how it helped. But I felt after each session he was a bit better / calmer / more relaxed.

He had about 10 sessions than the osteopath said he was finished.

Hi Indigo, DS2 is 10 and has ADD. I may be way off the mark, but have been researching CO and wondering if it could help him. He had a forceps birth - I have always wondered if that is relevant.

I'm not sure what to ask - I've tried googling but it's all a bit advertising-like and I'd rather hear from the horses mouth.

I mean, DS doesn't ever complain of headaches - so perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree.

I've tried fish oils and Gotu Kola supplements - nothing much helps. He still has classic ADD. I just want to explore every avenue, you know?

Yes but ASD here too, it was really good we also did about 10 sessions, it certainly helped DD to focus more, she also slept like a log after the sessions (major bonus Grin).

The osteopath actually ask me almost as soon as she put her hand on DDs head if she was a forceps delivery, as she could feel where they had been Sad. When DD was delivered she had stopped breathing there was no time to carefully place the forceps and they were placed across her forehead and the back at her head., i was amazed and Sad that despite DD being 5YO at the time she could still feel this.

Thanks 3cute. DS was a caesarean birth but required forceps as the surgeon had tiny hands and couldn't locate his head properly. He was bruised on his eye socket/cheek bone a bit.

How much is the treatment?

It was almost 4 years ago but it was £25 per 45 minute session, so not cheap but we felt it was worth it. TBH it would have been better value (as she may have needed fewer sessions) had DD have lasted the whole session, but she wouldn't really tolerate it for much longer than about 30 mins.

IndigoBell · 05/12/2011 23:08

I paid £35 per session. So it's a comparatively cheap therapy. If you're anywhere near me I'd certainly recommend who I went to. They were very reputable.

I think you should give it a go for 2 sessions and then decide :)

Also for ADD make sure he's getting enough zinc and magnesium.

I've tried everything. Most work. And it is the combination of all the therapies which has really worked.

We also found reflexology helped. That was £10 for 10 minutes....

I used a Cranial Osteopath for ds when he was about 7/8 yo (he's 13 now).

I'm not sure whether it helped or not. He was certainly calmer after the sessions but it didn't last, but that was most likely because he had no support in school at the time (he didn't get his AS dx till he was almost 8 and ADHD at 10) and the treatment wasn't enough to keep his anxieties at bay. Frankly, I don't think anything would have helped while he was at school as he was so stressed by it all. We didn't really begin to see improvements in him till we started home educating three years ago.

But he's very settled now, never gets angry like he used to and copes well with most situations. It's impossible to say whether the CO played a part in his development or as Indigo says, a combination of that and everything else we tried. I'm not sure that any one therapy on its own is the solution - most people tend to cherry-pick from a range of options till they find a blend that helps.

I'd give CO a go. A lot of children do benefit from it and probably the best thing is to try it and see what happens.
