Can you do a FOI request on a school that your child doesn't attend?

That's it really.

I would like to ask a couple of schools something and want to know if they are obliged to reply.

Many tia

Yes - FOI is for general information that any member of public is allowed to see

willowthecat · 04/12/2011 14:42

You could ask a friend to put the FOI in if you don't want them to think 'uh oh' when they see your name.

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 04/12/2011 14:54

Oh no, that isn't it. Just found out that the LA really ARE trawling my posts btw. I thought I was just being paranoid etc. Oh well!

Oh dear - how did you find out? And after the change?

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 04/12/2011 19:36

Minutes of a meeting that mentions my username ffs!

Please don't ask how I came across the minutes though. I'm just very lucky.

Shock

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you, eh.

I have been desperate to post on this board for days, have a very tricky situation with LA/school but I've been too wary for the same reasons.

Hope preparations going well for you. What's the date of tr.?

TheTimeTravellersWife · 04/12/2011 20:12

If Gloria names the date of the Tribunal, she will be well and truly "outed" by the LA!
I would love to know how you managed to get hold of minutes with your Username!
I hope that you can use it some way.

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 04/12/2011 20:21

Yes I can. And I have already thanks. And you're right. I can't give the date of my tribunal. Just namechange regularly I suppose.

Everyone always seems to know who I am anyhow but I will be harder to keep track of. This board has been invaluable for me in getting where I have got to, and that is far, but I've still got a mountain to climb unfortunately. I don't think I can just up and leave, and besides, I Lurve you guys!

I would LOVE to say how I got hold of the minutes but really can't.

Let's just say that sometimes, very rarely, there are good guys on the inside that DON'T sleep at night! Wink

I see. Silly me, I thought that you had used a Subject Access Request and I couldn't understand why you had received something so useful; in my experience they (allegedly) carefully "weeded" out anything useful/controversial.

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 04/12/2011 20:49

It's worded in a way that would never get picked up in either a subject access OR at FOI.

Just had an idea - what about an FOI request, asking for a list of websites visited by that Department; lots of places have ways of tracking internet use by staff these days.
I would love to see them try to explain Mumsnet being on there!

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 04/12/2011 21:37

LOL, that would give me some fun, but honestly, I've been scanning in tribunal documents all blimmin day and have no time for fun.

Honestly Justa You'd think I was making all this up if you didn't KNOW me, and btw, are you packed?

TTTW - I did get hold of very useful minutes of a meeting between governors and teachers. It was amazing - no holds barred - what they thought of me etc. Got it via a SAR but I sent the SAR to the Chair and since he took the minutes, I think school thought it better not to weed it.

You're right though, school did weed out some things that the LA sent me.
