After listening to Ros Balckburn talk tonight, it was great to hear some positives.
Myself and friend got chatting after and have decided we would like to do a Autism day. BUT different to the NAS days.

We wanted a day of helpful stuff for the day. So was considering inviting, Ros blackburn to talk, a talk on sensory processing via a specialist OT, and workshop on social stories via the specialist SALT.
I want something that is helpful, and had useable tools for parents.

What would you like to have? WHat things were useful to you?

We would use it to help raise money for the charity I am a trustee of, and wondering then what we could charge to parents and proffessionals

If it was down my way I would go :) What does Ross Blackburn charge in the first instance and would the salt, ot etc be a private one? You would need to know these costs first beforehand to make sure you cover overheads before you add a bit more for your charity. You could make it an all day event with a charity buffet lunch? Raffle?

The OT and SALT are people I know already and have already used in the past and I know SALT will give her time and OT is a friend of sorts that Im sure i could ask to help with the promise of the weighted blankets she wanted made Wink I need to find out how much Ros charges.
Yes would like to make it an all day event, with lunch and possible raffle. I also thought that maybe I could arrnage a relaxation session at the end of the day and maybe a short talk on mindfulness

Sounds good :) I would say I wouldnt bat an eyelid at £25 a ticket. ? Maybe throw in a bonus raffle number on each ticket. See who if anyone in business, would donate say a free facial or free sauna at a beauty shop, or something lady ish then something man ish lol Grin That would also attract in advertising. Then main raffle would bring in more for your charity on top :)

I dont know where you are though so I am looking at my area and costs, could be much higher where you live :)

Sleep sounds like a good one.
I'm in herts btw
We were just saying that as a parent and a professional you have to sit though a lot of useless talks before you find a good helpful one. We wanted to help parents get the useful information straight away.

Do you think something like pot painting at lunch and something else to relax would be helpful too?

I think pot painting would be a great idea theraputic and fun too! It could also help relax people and get them talking amongst themselves whilst they are doing it.

It would be too far for me to go but as an example I like to go to events and talks and such but on the morning of the day I end up with the jitters. You should have seen me yesterday morning and all I was going to was a small sensory workshop! I went but as far as I was concerned I was going to get lost, be late, say the wrong thing, have a panic if I dont sit by the door. If there were things like that going on I would be able to focus on something else and at the same time have something to talk or laugh about to others iyswim.
