French help for dyslexic child

Hi there

DS, dyslexic, has dropped one language but has been told he needs to keep one going and it's French.

He really struggles in this, and I think the only way he's really going to retain the words (any words!) or link spelling and sounds is by a lot of repetition and that gets really boring really quickly.

Has anyone got any advice/ resources they've used?

(Ideally I want a phonics reading scheme in French, but they don't seem to exist...)

Sorry, I don't have any advice on resources but I do sympathise with the difficulty. Does he really have to do French? My DS is dyslexic and also AS. He just could not cope with French at all and was excused - his school is very flexilble. To keep up with the requirement for a language he did some Latin mainly from books & on-line with some TA support. It seems a much better option for someone with dyslexia; the spelling is logical and lots of links to English for mutual reinforcement. (Better declare an interest - I was a classics teacher.)
