just wondering what signs you have has joy with? DS has visual problems so signs that are easy or in direct eye line work best. Plus his fine motor skills are slightly delayed.

So far he does raisin (food sign), biscuit, ball and book. What others have you had success with. Going to try singing sign...

More and finished might be useful for him. Sweets and chocolate are done on the face so should be easy to see and quite self motivating to learn =)

'more'. as far as functional and helpful goes!

but she was completely obsessive about old macdonald as they 'sang' it in her communication group, so she picked up all the animals really quickly so that she could join in.

it was like reading scribble though. fine motor skills not her finest point, really. she's clearly going to be a doctor.

more, chocolate and milk. Go For signs of things that really motivate him that he's going to want to use, doesn't matter if the sign he uses isn't exact, a vague approximation is fine to start with. For the vi, try hand over hand to start with if you think that's going to help.
