School have finally completed their part and I now have the assess clinicaly rated.

The clinical rating is formally rated by a professional in clinical psychiatry. It uses the DSM-IV & ICD-10 for diagnoses.

Overall it says the assessment strongly suggests that DS is on the autism spectrum, as in....Autism, tourettes, adhd (combined) plus other anxiety and other distruptive (as in PDA).

Helloooo mummy isnt a bad parent after all. Is now armed and ready for action. AGAIN Grin

Grin

Your first thread still stands out to me as a mum in such denial.

And the speed at which you've got your head round all this (actually during that one thread) and learnt to fight is amazing.

Thank you Indigo :)

I think that night was my turning point. I knew nothing of SN nor did I know (still dont lol in RL) of anyone with a child of SN it sounds daft but there are none its such a small town so I had nothing to compare. Also having 2 NT children who were girls I was of the mind.......this is what boys do? No it must be me, no wait it must be the school. I am soooo glad that I came here and listened to very good advice :)

Once resigned, and more indepth analysing without that doubt/denial cloud I can be a stubborn so and so when it comes to my boys future.

Well I have done some shouting today lol

Turned out DS has not been monitored at play hence the extreme stress. He bit someone on the shoulder yesterday which upset me greatly. Unfortunately because of his fantasy game playing there are a couple kids that "dare" him to do this or that and DS goes and does it....reason? he wants to be their friend, if not they will hit him tomorrow :( Teacher realises although wrong ds was enveloped in fantasy and believes that he was dared. NOT the point, not for the other child that got bit for a start.......and so I shouted, that it about time they realise that he needs someone permanently by his side at playtime encouraging him to interact with others and learn his social skills. Stop him going into fantasy and help him PLAY. Stay with him when he does it and so if another child DARES him the person can teach him to say no because it is not nice...........They are advertising for someone Grin

Second shout of the day. Gets letter from OT that says "following your childs OT assessment you have been invited to our sensory workshop..............yes knew it was coming but also cahms & salt were supposed to be chasing OT up to actually help DS as he needs it now. Have they? nooooooooooooooo.

Phoned, woman not there asked if I got a message for her. So I gave it both barrels. Told them to stick the letter where the sun dont shine and ask her WHEN is she going to actually see my son owing to the fact the letter states "following your childs OT assess" AND HE HASNT BEEN ASSESSSED. Told them this was a delaying tactic and a cheaper option with group talks, and DS cant wait that long. Was told she would get her to phone me back and so I told her she hadnt phoned me back since august despite letter, phone call and other people phoning. So I hope she does as the only thing I got left is to make a packed lunch and catch a bus to her office for the day and wait.

Got the call Grin.........suddenly there was a cancellation for next week ho hum...........

Rofl at coff33ee arming herself with pack lunch ready for stakeout

Really glad it worked. And well done for comprehensive diagnosis list. Imagine how much longer it could have got if you'd let them spend the next three years blaming the mum n

Ask for the OTs manager and for her HPC number - which you need in order to make a formal complaint to the HPC. Gets their attention every time.

Is this a dx then Coff or just saying he is somewhere on the spectrum? Sorry I missed this on Tuesday? Congrats anyway for being proved right :)

coff33pot · 10/11/2011 21:25

Thanks for the advice Nigel1 I will remember that as this is an initial assessement where she said she will decide to go from there. Where ever she is going I am determined now she is going quickly Smile

Ben10 This assessment is one of the diagnostic tools like ados, disco etc. There is quite a bit about it on the internet and research in using it abroad and its findings. They are using it all over the world in various places. Makes quite interesting reading. Especially there success rate in clinical diagnosis which in one case was 86% of 100 children who were then put through the usual assessment via multi team or psychiatrist and all 86% did infact have the clinical diagnosis given by it.

It is an interview based online but more thorough (took me 9 hours) which you complete. Then you can ask your school to complete their part (if you want them too) They dont see what you have ticked or written and you dont know theirs until the end. The computer generates a probability rating as in high, medium or low probability of diagnosis matching all the answers against the DSM-IV and ICD-10 Then on top of that it officially gets rated by a clinical rater who has experience in the field so not just some multi person from camhs.

So yes it is a clinical diagnosis but it has to be used in conjuction with multi team or psychiatrist just like disco and ados iyswim.
