Proposed Statement.....!

I did post before as I got my DS proposed statement through and it stated...."DS to have ACCESS to 25 hours...."!

At first I wasn't happy with the word ACCESS and was going to disagree with it but now having met with school and Parent Partnership I decided to agree and hope I done the right thing! They said it was very unlikely I would be able to have the word ACCESS removed unless I went to tribunal!

School told me that the 25 hours he gets is above what he gets now and they would have to look at staffing as one day there isnt one and that his new IEP would demonstrate where that support will be given!!

Just hope I have done the right thing!!

Tribunal isn't as scary as you'd think ; )

Parent partnership are employed by the lea. For independent advice you need to talk to IPSEA.

I cant speak for you but I would have a go at attempting to alter the word access to. Even if it just stated a personal 1 to 1 TA or something, and see what reply you get.

How old is he? is he due to change schools anytime soon? Because the next school may not be so amicable iyswim.

I think I do remember though in an old post that you said something like you felt your DS would be ok without constant 1 to 1 and is doing ok as he is so I can understand why you accept this statement as it is.

I am fighting mine, but thats because I dont have anything showing so I am unable (and wont) leave mine.

Good luck to you and ds though x

Anna, you have to do what you think is right and going to work but a tribunal just to change the word access won't take any effort or any expert witnesses or anything really.

If you can wait a year you can see how it goes and challenge the 'access' at the annual review.

The thing that makes me cross though is how you are being lied to and treated and I would have concerns that this is proof of their intention to fail your child.

DS is 5 so i am very grateful that the statement process has been smooth so far! It was accepted first time without no fight!!

Having spoke to the school, they did say that they would have to look at staffing as there are times when the class DS is in does not have a TA and one will have to be brought in! They also said that they know the areas which DS struggles with and they will put that in his new IEP!

DS doesn't need a TA with him all the time....lunch times he is fine with as loves outdoor play etc!!

Like you say StarlightMcKenzie i can see how it goes because in actual fact since the statementing processs begun, DS has made improvement if only small!
