My Little Girl

Such a cruel thing to happen ? so unfair

Why my little girl ? did it have to be her?

One day perfect, 8 months old

then over the days we had to be told...

?if she survives Meningitis severely brain damaged she?ll be?

but this couldn?t be happening, not to me

She was so ill ? I was so lost

she fought for her life but at a dreadful cost

?a damaged brain, she will not walk,

if she survives she will not talk?

but she smiled then babbled and day by day

she began to walk, talk and play

?A miracle? said the Doctor when she saw

My little girl walk through her door

?it?s amazing what she is able to do

she?s a real credit to your Husband and you?

And for me her Mum through my tears I see

a gorgeous girl so precious to me

a girl who loves to swim and trampoline

with the most gorgeous smile that has to be seen

There are many problems and her tantrums are bad

and there are many days were I am very sad

but then I see Ellie hugging her twin Sister Grace

and a great big smile is brought to my face

You have done your daughter proud there I am sure you will do well at the concert x

That was beautiful, mirroring our adopted son's path except the medics were right at the outset. I am so happy for you but very envious (sorry) I must keep your poem as it will remind me that some children do recover from this evil infection. BTW DS had pneumoccal men.
Good luck in Liverpool. Need tissues now.x

thanks

sorry to hear that 2oldtobemum, we are lucky in one way but then the other side is that she is totally horrendous!!!!! recovered isnt a word I would use :( she has many problems...has severe learning difficulties and our life is very very hard. I do love her very much, that goes without saying and I am so pleased she was able to eventually walk and talk...but with the understanding not matching her behaviour and sleep being so bad its so hard

How old is DS now ? xxx

Lovely to read and so pleased you had a good outcome too. DD#3 had septicaemia this year and thankfully for the most part is doing well now. To many scarey times and we faced losing her for a few days while she fought for her life in PICU. Not everyone gets good outcomes - sorry to read your post above 2old2beamum, and so pleased to hear you are able to support a great cause to help others in the future to fight these terrible diseases.

Hi anniebear how old is your DD?
My DS is 12 and is deafblind, cp,epilepsy, pmld and is unable to walk. We like you, love him so much it hurts. We are so proud of him as he is slowly learning "on body sign language" and has about 5 signs he uses and his
favourite is FINISHED. It is not a lot but it is something. His biggest problem is neurogenic pain and he hates his wheelchair. Not good for family life.
I am sure your DD is not horrendous and I am surewith loving parents she will reach her full potential.
Thanks beautifulgirls
BTW have shown friends your poem more tissues needed!!.

lol Im afraid she is at time, we are at our wits end with her, but we do also have lovely times with her also,

this time last week we were taking her to A&E where she ended up having emergency brain surgery the next day!! A traumatic week!

I am sorry to hear your Son is not doing as well as you may have hoped, but you must be so proud of him doing some on body signing :) thats fantastic

It is a horrible illness and I know we are fortunate that DD exceeded expectation :)
