ABA consultants - what to look for

Hiya, we have decided to go down ABA route for our 4 year old ASD son. Having done research, we think flexible VB approach seems to be best suited for him. Quite anxious to get help that is right for my son and finding the right consultant will be the key. I am planning to meet up couple of consultants before choosing one. Looking advice on what to look, the questions to ask. Should the consultants have CRB check? SHould we ask for references?
Any advice/recommendations? Pls feel free to PM me any recommendations or +/- of any providers/consultants. many thanks...

Consultants don't need crb check but tutors do. Definitely speak to other parents using the consultant. I'd say the level of support you'd get from them is key.

Have you read about VB or looked at vbmapp? Good starting points. I would like that chat with them about your concerns and what you would like to achieve will help you decide, plus speaking to other parents who use them.

You can always change consultants if it's not working out, make sure they don't want to tie you in. Tutors are more crucial IMO.

From what I can tell, the main thing with consultants is ensuring you agree on the approach, traditional Aba versus flexible more VB orientated and the time you wish to commit to the programme, plus how it will fit in with your life and DS nursery or whatever. HTH
