Just found a great cheap, flashing toy - Christmas idea?

Hi

I was just perusing some sites looking for flashing things for the boys to have on bonfire night. They've always run out by the time we get to the school bonfire, because we can't go early or ds1 will end up stressed and upset.

The boys saw lots of flashing goodies when we were in Blackpool earlier this week and really wanted a double ended flashing light saber each, so that's what I'll be buying, but, while I was looking though, I found these great flashing foam sticks which are only £1.99 each or cheaper if you buy a few at a time.

I thought I'd post the link here in case anyone was looking for a cheap light-up sensory toy for Christmas.

these are a good company who also sell those, and a lot more.

Ooo, they are cheaper for most things. Thank you keepingupwiththejoneses. Smile

Just a thought, while we are on about sensory stuff.

Ds1's new teacher says they are having problems with him fidgeting and chatting during assembly. His inclusion teacher suggested a fiddle toy and they've tried him with blu-tack and a piece of string to knot and unknot, but neither has really helped.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for something ds could have as a fiddle toy, that wouldn't look too out of place or toy-like to the other children?

Has anyone else had any success with this?

Moosemama on the site that keeping has posted. look for the moody men. DS has two of these and I have sold them myself before. They are filled with a kind of sand and the outside is rubbery like balloon but thicker? He fiddles with his quite well Grin You can dent them and poke them and pull them and squeeze like a worry ball.

Thanks coff33, will go and have a look, but am worried that at his age they are wanting him to have something non toy-like, partly so he doesn't draw attention to himself, but partly because they have a couple of light-fingered children in his year and anything too interesting is likely to go missing.

ahhhh I see. The only other thing that DS loves is a string of thick elastic bands?

moosemama · 29/10/2011 23:35

Hmm, now ds does love elastic bands, so that might be an idea worth trying - just have to hope he doesn't decide to catapult them across the school hall though! Shock

Thanks coff33.

What about a Tangle Toy? I used to have a box in my classroom to dole out to fiddlers. DS likes them too and I carry one or two in my handbag for moments of stress (mine and his!)

I was looking at those on the site keeping up linked to and thought they looked like a contender. I think I might buy him some for home, but again I think they might look too toy-like for school.
