DH is on his way to A&E at this very moment with dd who has just had an asthma attack.

Ive used up her maximum salbutomol allowance and she,s still coughing and wheezing so he,s gone with her, ive got Ds upstairs who has D&V so its been a really good couple of days !!!

Just hope she will be ok and that they will be able to sort her out which will probably mean her staying in again, its getting to be a regular monthly thing now- staying at Fairfield Hospital overnight.

Last week the pharmacist came in to see us and requested every single medicine she takes as they suspect she will be in and out over winter with infections etc as she is a poorly tot, she is 20months and is so tiny, the registrar asked me last week was she on solids yet

Thanks for your messages everyone

DD is home -[thank goodness], the infection that she had last week has still not cleared even with antibiotics so they have put her on a stronger dose for 7 days.

The paediatrician said that the combined chest/throat/ear infection she has has made her asthma worse-hence the attack but they checked her oxygen levels etc and seemed to be happy with that.

im just glad she,s home and i dont have to spend another night in the hospital.

That must be distressing for your dd to have these asthma attacks, poor thing, and very worrying for you to see her suffering like that. I'm glad to hear she's better now though and you didn't have to spend a night in the hospital.

Hi jenk,
my ds2 is the same, from oct to end of may he has chest infections and pneumonia constantly. we have a bed on the long term neuro ward. he isnt asthmatic but has inhalers for the winter to help keep his tubes open. because he is quadriplegic his tubes and everything else has no muscle tone...sorry, going off the point. Do you not have a SATS machine at home to check her blood oxygen and heart rate, we have one and only go the hospital when he is de satting which is about 84-89ish, he averages normally at 96. Do you have a portable nebuliser, weve never needed this but do have oxygen for when he needs a whiff. Do your communtiy pead nurse specialists come out to see you often? We have found them to be worth their weight in gold and have prevented ds2 having to go in hopsital lots of times by nursing him at home with iv antibiotics etc. sorry if i come accross as a 'know it all' i dont mean it like that i just hope that my experiences can help others. I hope she gets better soon, thinking of you.

no, i havent got any of that but her appointment with the paed is coming up next week and im going to mention about a nebuliser, im not 100% what they do though (sorry to sound a bit thick)but other people have mentioned them before.

Thanks for the info
