My cat was almost strangled by DS. I spent 5 mins crouched over her while DS threw things at us till he ran out of ammo and I could restrain him. Then he seemed to calm down, I let him go and he ran off to empty all his juice cartons onto the floor while guarding himself with the kitchen brush aimed at my head. Sp I try to clean it up as he runs upstairs and gets a coat hanger which he uses as a sword. I get it off him and he throws a massive paddy throwing everything including tables and chairs. Got him in restraint again and he heasbutts me then runs off snapping all his crayons and throwing them.

He has stopped to watch cars but it won't last long.

I've had him out all morning walking in the woods, so it's not pent up energy. First night on melatonin last night and he had 12 hours so he can't be tired.

Help. Please.

I havent got any advise other than stick with it and send you big hugs x

Been the same here today. DS wanted dd to play guns and for the 20millionth time I said girls dont play guns. (we have not played cowboys or the like for 8 months now) DS went into a complete screaming fit and cried that he didnt want to break his guns. Then snapped them in two and broke down in a bigger meltdown. Then he was playing by himself and got up on the dinner table, asked him to get down and he screamed he couldnt as he needed a car to look around in with his invisible guns. Asked him if he had any nice games to play and his answer was no mum in my head I have 50 games and they are all fighting games and there is no more room to record anymore :( exactly its long going and hard work and I sympathise greatly.

DS has been an utter nightmare this week. Its a combination of being out of routine due to the bloody holidays and having a cold. I've almost lost count of the number of meltdowns so far :(

The holidays definately do play a part in it I think. We have had rotten weather to which hasnt helped the situation as I normally leave the back door open for him to charge out of and bounce about. Its dark here today and a bit depressing all the way round.

Sometimes I think I must be doing it wrong. Was out with 3 autistic kids Wednesday and DS was the only one who only wanted to kick and push all day.

How old is he hanaka? And what's his level of functioning? Not sure whether you've come across the challenging behaviour foundation - I've found them very helpful and they produce free guides for parents.
