On a thread about the IDS Daily Mail article on MSE, we have now been called the "mumsnet mob". Is that how we are viewed on the outside, mothers of disabled children fighting in a massive mob to get what our children need or as they see it to get things that our children don't need/aren't entitled to Hmm

Having ventured onto the MSE disability forums for the past few months, I'm shocked at the disabilist comments from people who actually have disabilities themselves.

I quite like this mob [hgrin]. I think I'll stay!

LOL. I suppose it doesn't matter. A closed mind is a closed mind. She'll never admit she's got the wrong end of the stick, even if we knock her over the head with it. Hmm Tempting, eh? Grin

Triggles · 25/10/2011 19:38

Perhaps her other heart was a bit more compassionate and she hasn't figured out how to work this one yet?

Maybe I should go back on and tell her "have a heart, will ya?" Grin

Anyone in Glasgow a MNSN poster [hwink]

Was a bit off to refer to children with ADHD as the "class clown." Hmm

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 25/10/2011 19:39

Imagine if you made any comments about heart problems. Can imagine that would rightly not go down well, but disabilist comments re other disabilities are fine...

I agree btw

You'd think someone that supposedly has ASD would be more sympathetic. I question it though, just by the way she says "oh yeah, I have that..." uh huh... sure... Hmm Betcha money it's armchair diagnostics. How's that for judgemental? Grin Shame on me....

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 25/10/2011 20:11

That poster is well known for being quite rude to others with disabilities despite claiming to have them herself.

Triggles · 25/10/2011 20:16

ah.. didn't know that.. how did I miss that? Grin

The reason I stepped away from MSE was a horrid thread about exit passes at theme park.- it got really nasty and that particular poster was all over it, saying that they should be made to wait etc etc.

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 25/10/2011 20:42

I was on that one too!

The ignorance on that thread was awful.

Triggles · 25/10/2011 21:55

ooooh I seem to remember something about that... don't think I posted though... sometimes I get too angry to post, and figure it's safer to avoid. LOL

Triggles · 25/10/2011 22:02

See, now I'm being snotty. Oh, they make me so cross. What a bunch of hypocrites. I've reported it.

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 26/10/2011 07:00

You're good Trig. I've had enough now.

good lord. I see that I've been castigated for arguing with someone who's had a heart transplant!! I cannot believe that the guy says nobody should be arguing with her because she's been ill. What a ridiculous statement. If she doesn't want to argue, stay off the board and quit saying dreadful things FFS!!!! Angry

I've reported his post, and asked them to clarify whether or not this is board policy, that we're not allowed to respond to sick people. Hmm I'm pretty sure it's not policy. Grin

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 26/10/2011 09:47

I have sent a serous report to them querying whether the MSE forum team are happy to allow breaches of the Equality Act on their forum. I really can't be bothered on the D&D board there anymore. I'll go back on DFW if necessary and Grabbit but I've had it with them. I've been on the benefits board this morning and someone else was having a go at someone.

Great response BTW to them

Thanks. This stuff riles me, but I feel I can't let it go unchallenged. If nobody challenges it, it just spreads IMO. But I agree with you - I think their moderators should be jumping on that stuff more quickly.

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 26/10/2011 10:05

The problem you have Trig is that you keep challenging them, they keep saying that you are "bullying", more posters get involved, you keep getting riled/stressed etc.

Those posters are not going to suddenly think "oh, Triggles has a point". They have their own agendas which they will not ever ever move from. There are lots of posters on MN for example who say things just because they are uninformed (as was I pre-DS's issues being clear Blush) and those people can learn to understand through listening, because they will listen. Obviously MN has it's own share of those who won't listen.

These particular ones on the MSE D&D board are not going to stop being how they are until they are made to stop by the Forum Team at MSE.

Alright. I have to ask. What is an AE that she just asked about? I am a bit confused. Perhaps not enough coffee on my part.

Triggles · 26/10/2011 10:10

That's true. I don't honestly think they will change their mind, to be fair. I simply hate to let the nasty comments lay unchallenged. It's a flaw. I'll admit it. Grin

At this point I'm not horribly riled, just baffled that someone who says she has ASD herself as well as a heart condition wouldn't be more compassionate to others.

wasuup3000 · 26/10/2011 10:11

Alter ego - she thinks your the other poster too that is challenging her?

Triggles · 26/10/2011 10:13

oh... pmsl... silly me. I didn't know that.
