It feels like I have entered a whole new world. A world where we speak the same language, a world where I don't have to explain or justify, a world where the ones with needs are outnumbered by the ones giving support.SALT and OT on the premises full time.
They will devise a menu around what he likes and try and expand a little. LEA suggested he could share a taxi with another student who is going the same way. School refused because they need to determine first that both boys could deal with that and so ds will have his own taxi and escort.
I feel like they have taken on the responsibility, I can relax and enjoy the peace when he is there.
Ds spent an hour there today without me, they pointed me in the direction of the coffee shopGrin He was in his year group, three were at college, one at work experience ds was there with one student, his teacher and two TA's. He managed to let them know he prefers afternoon visits because he likes a lie in and also managed to alert them that he doesn't like Halloween so they reassured him they don't celebrate it either.
I was amazed because he is generally mute and he didn't gesture, sign or write he spoke Grin
An hour and a half tomorrow and then Thursday morning when we'll discuss plans for next half term.

sounds great. I know how you feel. Ds1 goes to fab ASD school. I trust them totally to deal appropriately with him so just don't worry about his schooling at all. Unfortunately still have dd2's issues to worry about!

My ds goes to a SS like that...which is why I'm Grin at the moment!

So glad it's going well. When does he start full time? After half term?

insanityscratching · 20/10/2011 06:14

He's doing a morning today and then a full day the first day back. If he copes well with the full day then he'll do the next day if not he'll do every other day that week and full time the week after.
I can't quite believe that he hasn't been stressed out when he's got home but he has been incredibly chilled by the whole thing.
