DS has started to use a 'flexistand' recently. We are very careful to have worked out a game to play in advance and have it all set up before we put him in the frame. This seems to distract him from the fact that he is strapped in. Bubbles, stickers, play doh , water play, paints etc. are all really good to start with.
We also use the frame for stretches, so we remove the table and place a low bench in front of the frame. On the bench set up some favourite toys - Thomas train set, building blocks etc., he then has to bend down to get the toy, which is a really great hamstring stretch.

Aim to use it for short bursts, say 15 mins at a go and then build the time up gradually.

Hope this helps a little?

With difficulty tbh. We did it little by little, just a few minutes at a time but not easy as she screamed going in to it. We'd put on a favourite DVD, lots of favourite toys around etc.
We ended up having it at her nursery where it worked best as she was distracted more by the other kids and maybe seeing them all at the same level helped?

Good luck, just be calm, be patient, be strong and you will get there.

xx

My ds doesnt like it either. The difficulty with him is that he is reg blind, so it rules out dvd and he cant move his arms to hold something. He also cant hold his head up. we bought our own standing frame and we have gradually built up the time he spends in it, and he does actually seem to enjoy now. our children sound quite similar sam?

Do you have a tray with a hole/bowl in?
A child I look after has a bowl of water/sand/pasta things to feel and play with.

the standing frame should have a bowl with it but our physio has lost it! she's in a jenx standing frame, it has a cat on each side of it. all her toys she throws off, she won't watch anything whilst in it, i try activities with her and she doesn't want to know whilst in the frame.

My dd has a Jenx monkey standing frame. She hated it at first, but we just put her in it every day and the second she started getting upset at all we took her out of it. Over time she's grown to be quite happy in it and now can spend 20mins at a time in it before she gets tired. It is still hard to keep her occupied in it though.

Hope it gets easier for the pair of you x
