Dd1 has never been able to tell me where it hurts eg she falls over and cuts her knee - cannot tell me her knee hurts - I just see the blood or she falls over and I have to try and guess where it hurts....

today - she fell off a basket she was sitting on and came over to me crying to told me 'head' 'head' - she had in fact bumped her head ( i saw it) BUT to be sure I asked her what she did - she said it again, then said yes when I asked if she had bumped her head. I was sooo excited she could tell me what hurt!!

I also remember being so pleased that Ellie had cut her knee!! As it meant she was up and running round more and having a go at things, was so please giving her her first plaster!!

That's great Eidsvold, fantastic in fact. Now all you need to teach her is "throat" in prep
DS can do the sign for hurt, a sort of claw hand, and I try to get him to hold it over the hurt bit. Mind you, he hardly ever hurts himself so we don't get much practice!

  • this happened to us about 5 months ago. It is soooooo useful when they "get" it. Life has been much simpler since. Congrats mini eidsvold!
