Now now don't be shy!

Piffleoffagus · 20/08/2004 16:51

I'd also be keen, assuming the forces of life do not contrive to stop me, as always seems to happen to me!!!

i have most probably killed the thread now aswell. Okay, so we need to think of the practicalities about things and how we have problems/or easiness to get to places

would love to come if at all poss. Am near Brighton but London fine for me.

coppertop · 20/08/2004 17:44

I'd love to come if it was somewhere fairly easy to get to. We haven't got a car so I'd have to use the dreaded public transport system.

heartinthecountry · 20/08/2004 17:46

I had been thinking this would be good too - though the idea of all of us in one place with all our SN kids did make me chuckle - I can imagine it being absolute chaos . I am in London but have no space. Will try and think of poss London venues if people think it would be the easiest place to get to.

Fio2 · 20/08/2004 17:49

i have to use the train too, or bus (but they are pre-historic here!lol)

someone think of something

Seems like London is the place most can get to atm. I am the other way round, can't use public transport really, due to ds2's whhelchair, but dh could drive us.

coppertop · 20/08/2004 17:58

I think London would be okay for me too but I have to warn you that I have absolutely no sense of direction and will almost certainly get lost once I reach the train station.

Caroline5 · 20/08/2004 18:09

Would love to join a meet-up, London would also be OK for me - could stay overnight with my parents (Middx). Don't really know much about possible venues, though!

StickyNote · 20/08/2004 18:11

What about a school? DD1's nursery has an excellent sensory room attached to it with a small playground outside - could you hire something like that for a nominal amount?

Hiring somewhere sounds like a good idea. Do any of you London-folk know of any places we could hire?

Fio2 · 20/08/2004 18:40

then i suppose it could be a weekday or weekend?

OP posts:
Fio2 · 20/08/2004 18:41

we could have wineGrin

coppertop · 20/08/2004 18:48

I'll be needing a bl**dy enormous drink if I manage to get myself and ds1 & 2 on a train to London. I think it would have to be either during the school holidays or on a weekend. Otherwise hmb will tell us off for having time off during term-time.

heartinthecountry · 20/08/2004 19:09

Hmmm, the problem I am now thinking about London - if everyone is coming in on trains etc they will be getting into central London. cannot imagine there could be anywhere suitable in central London, which means going out into the sticks a bit, which makes it really tricky for most I would imagine.

I am thinking an ideal kind of venue might be a kind of play park. I know of somewhere near Dartford where they have animals etc plus a soft play area and I think they are well set up for children with SN - but Dartford I imagine not great. Or if it is a weekend I wonder if there are any SN schools we could hire out? or is that just a ridiculous thought?!

Am determind to come up with something though - off to trawl the internet.

Davros · 20/08/2004 19:15

I have no intention of bringing DS!!! I want to meet you mums and have half a chance of talking to some of you! I was thinking we'd meet during the week and bring any babies/littleuns but for US to meet. Therefore was thinking something like Kensington Gdns depending on weather......

MABS · 20/08/2004 19:24

no ds with me either!!

coppertop · 20/08/2004 19:37

If it's during term-time I'd have to be back in time to collect ds1 from school so there probably wouldn't be enough time. If it's in the holidays I'd have to bring him with me. Dh's boss is pretty crap when it comes to giving him days off when he actually needs/wants them.
