MIL rang yesterday. Started off ok. I said I hadn't got anything ready for xmas- been busy with my course- and it's going to be a bit of a nightmare as ds1 breaks up early this year (16th). She asked if I had any help arranged for that week, so I said not yet. Then I commented that I wasn't sure what I was going to do as we can't go out and ds1 will be climbing the walls with a week inside. And she said.............

"no I suppose the weather is too bad to go out at the moment".

WTF has the weather got to do with it fgs? I can't go out because ds1 needs 1:1 out of the house and I always have at least 1 other child with me. (So I said words to that effect).

I'm sorry but I do expect MIL to get it- it's not that difficult to grasp. Aggghhhhh.

Anyway am going to engage brain and try and sort out some help for that week.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That's so bloody hard. I think it's very reasonable of you to expect her to get it. I'm going to give my inlaws DD's school report which is lovely and positive but also very black and white about her difficulties. Where can you get help from? Would anybody from school fancy the extra cash? Do you have any money saved up from direct payments? Hope you sort something. I know only too well that feeling of literally not being able to go out

I've got dp's- am going to try and sort out something- prob someone to have ds3 so I can take ds1 somewhere whilst ds2 is in nursery.

I think MIL is a lost cause really..... She seems to take stuff on board at one visit then we appear to be back at the beginning the next time we see her.

How annoying for you IDAAC. I think most people either don't get it or just don't want to get it.
You must feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall, as you did seem to be making progress with the inlaws if I remember rightly.

Hope you manage to sort something out for that week.

Unless someone lives it, seems its too difficult for them to understand how hard it is. My community nurse left early one day because my ds wouldn't calm down and she wasn't in the mood.

How incredibly frustrating that she still just doesn't seem to get it. Next thing you know she'll be asking whether your ds1 is looking forward to Christmas!!! (If she hasn't already )

SoBlue - That's truly awful!

ha ha copper- I got that in the same phone call. I said "ds2 is".
