Think it must be a catholic thing, OP. Have seen this on Mn a few times. I have this. Totally fab catholic school, best in county. apparently. shit sen. do zero for my son, even though he has AS diagnosis. they dispute everything and say they can see no problems with my son. blinkered.

I'm amazed that the Lea have asked you not to phone but I do think you need to be so careful here.

It is incredibly frustrating dealing with an LEA and it took us about 2 years and a lot of expense to get my daughter moved from a very unsuitable placement to the one she is currently at. Have you thought of getting a legal advocate to deal with the LEA in your place?

Miggsie · 11/08/2011 12:37

I would write to them asking for very specific actions on their part that you require, and ask them to give you the names of people who will be actioning these, who is responsible and when the actions will be completed by.

If they get uppity you can write and say you repeated phone calls were due to you being unable to get these items addressed. And getting a solicitor to remind them they are being derelict in their duty is a good idea too (by letter).

I have found that my LEA would rather spend 1 hour saying why something cannot be done rather than spend 1 hour actually doing it. The only way to get anything done is make a specific list, and get it raised to the highest possible person and set a completion date.

I have googled the pricipal ep in my county and found a letter from her to all sencos they are only funding statutory assements and LA priorty work and schools with have to purchace all other work out of there own budjets , no wonder dd has never seen an ep. I have been told in writing she will be seeing an ep now , the threat of tribunal must be "LA PRIORITY WORK" , the la are really arse holes , with this policy presious ep funding will now be wasted funding at tribunals , where in reality the dc could have been supporrted at school action plus if the school was supported by ep advice. wankers tax payers money wasting wankers

Oh god hannahsmummy that rings so many bells with me. What happens is that LEA pay for assessments but schools have an SEN budget which covers other support from EPs. I have another thread here about institutional neglect, I feel is a direct result of school not allocating EP time to my daughter so she's had 7 years of INCOMPETENCE. Schools just work for the pushy parents, and if you're not one of them, your child is neglected. Idiots.

Interesting I've had lots of staff referring me to the Commissioners - they are now using us to help them protest the cuts. Commissioner involvement is highly respected and may have an input to the government and they don't listen to the staff they employ, so staff get us to complain instead.

But that actually doesn't help us much, because what's done is done. If it's too late it's too late.

hannahsmummy Sad how incredibly stressful for you. Have you asked advice from IPSEA about this latest letter?
