community peadiatricians report

ds's report as come back, he is 32 months and it lists everything in order, according to peadiatrician his speech, imaginative play, self help skills are all at around 24months and he has noted that he has behaviour problems evrything else development wise he is around the 30month mark and that is it basically. i was naive enough to think this report would help but its just pointed out what i knew already, nursery have him on an iep so he is closely monitored and is getting help, but salt have signed him off to go on another list so looks like he will be waiting along time for speech and language help, sorry for the moan, just spent a long day with ds at hospital with yet another skin infection then come home to open that report x

So, are you going back to see the Paed? Has she/he referred you on to a developmental specialist or was she a developmental specialist? Has any DX been suggested? You seem to just have a list of observations and no conclusion.

salad sandwich, no advice just to say we are in pretty much the same position. We have seen the dev paed twice. Report just full of observations (things we told the paed). Nothing else. No diagnosis, nothing. Also, DD's s&l issues are very severe so we have been discharged from the normal salt as well and are now on a long waiting list for a different salt.we get nothing in the meantime. Frustrating, isn't it?

we go back to see the peadiatrician in 6months, no idea if he was a specialist or not :-/. no dx, no dx suggested so just limbo really, its the most frustrating thing in the orld chocjunkie, ds has medical problems and has had medical problems and i just feel they must all be linked somehow. the pead did mention that the delays could be because of his speech but he was delayed in communicating too, not just speech. hes off to a and e in the morning with his infection, it isnt budging xx

Maybe at the next one have some questions ready, written down, like what could it be, ASD, a language disorder, can you DX ASD? etc. Really easy to forget this (I certainly have) when in the thick of a meeting and feeling stressed and emotional. Will the Paed be observing your DS at nursery? 6 months seems like ages to wait, but is very common.

hes only 2 and half so think they are doing a wait and see with him :( the nursery gave me their findings and observations to take with me to the appointment. reading the report with what was mentioned in it it seems like they are putting him down as sand language delay with behavioural problems... he recommended i do the webster stratton thing, some sort of parenting course, speech and language have given me everything they have got, i know with the help he has had he should have caught up by now

Have I recommended the Hanen book, It Takes Two to Talk? Link here to cheap source. I was recommended it by my SALT, well the ASD specific one, this is the general one, better for you with no ASD suspected. Brilliant book.
