dd2 is 3, pre-school have suggested AS, anyway, get to the point in hand. i told her to get down from dd1 high bed before she fell and cracked her head open. she then told me that if she cracked her head open her face would fall open and you would see her heart (poor kid, i had to explain her heart was in her chest, her brain was in her head). or this normal for a just 3yr old?

I would think, given your particular circumstances , that may be a fairly normal reaction.

Miaou · 30/11/2005 22:08

Absolutely. A lot of kids take things literally. Dh said to dd1 (aged 8) this evening, "would you like to take your bowl into the kitchen?" She left it where it was - as she didn't like to

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:08

i did laugh when she said it. bad mummy.

Blimey, I've never had anything that advanced from my 4yr old! Why would she know that her heart was in her chest - sounds like completely reasonable mixing up of heart and brain to me. I wonder if she knows what her heart does??? Not clear at link with pre-school suggestion though?

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:10

my kids are going to be medical experts at he end of this.

eek, sorry, does dd2 know everything, as it were???

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:11

she knows about hearts unfortunaly, dh needs a heart transplant.

My dd takes thinks literally. DP said to her write the book title on the top line....so she wrote The Book Title on the top line. Even though they had discussed the book titles and whether they were fiction or non fiction etc...
...also if you say Throw that over here..she will...be it a soft toy, a hammer...whatever..
Your dd knows more about bodys than most 3 year olds and maybe her head hurts because shes thinking abut her daddy and she thinks her heart is in her head??!!

pre-school say she is very intelligent, but it was the wayshe did it, she made zigzap motions across her head and said about her seeing her heart if her head crack open.

i try to keep things from them, but peter has an LVAD and according to dd2 hearts are like clocks, she probably thinks thats what a heart looks like.

it's hard to tell from this one siutation misdee. Things like misunderdatnading "it's raining cats and dogs" would be typical suggestions. Young children tend t take things literally though, so that might be a case of waiting and seeing.

I really think you need an assessment. It sounds like you've had concerns for a while and now the SENCO has mentioned some- you'll always wonder until she's been assessed by people who know what they are doing. I read your earlier message about6 months- I suppose that's as fast as you could hope for but still

i'll get GP appintment on friday if i cancall in before school, am off to harefield tomorrow (must go in, havent seen peter since friday).

so ridiculous that you can;t book an appointment. I think the assessment is necessary given all the speculaiton- just so you know where you stand. IN the meantime try not to analsye everything (says someone who noticed that ds3 kind of almost extended an index finger today but it wasn;t reallty quite pointing but may have been heading that way )

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:20

dd3 points, she had eye clinic the other day and kept pointing to the little beads they were trying to get her to see, she could see them lol.

daughter is being assessed at the moment... I'm analysing everything she's done in the last 9 years...

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:22

that must be hard. roll on friday. must make a list.

oh dd3 didnt want to leave pre-school today, i had to go and drag her out, lol. cue lots of singing. in my ear. arrrrgh.

OP posts:
baka · 30/11/2005 22:26

gah don't tell me that! She's younger than ds3!

Seriously though analysing is bad for you. Once you have the assessment in place forget it for a while. (I have my backup plan in place, so am forgetting it until 14/15 months.)

misdee · 30/11/2005 22:29

i will. just this struck me today. i just have an image of her face falling off, think i reassured her. dd1 didnt help by saying they stitch you up with a needle and thread.

Girls are earlier Baka. I'm sure of that. DD is pointing away at everything and talking too. (Only hello and bye bye and mama, dada, banana and Hiya! (always to the cat))
I think girls get social communication earlier than boys.
I'm in shock with dd. She climbs up the stairs by herself given half a chance. Nightmare.
Ds didn't move at ALL until around 14 months.
She doesn't go to sleep these days until 10pm though
