ASD teens - going to bed late a general trait ?

Just read on another thread in AIBU that it general trait that ASD teens go to bed late. Do other parents of ASd teens agree ? As the proud owner of a newly teen Aspie who is never asleep before 11 I have wonder if it was somthing to 'cure' or just go along with .

Mine is beginning to stay awake later at night and has never really slept much beyond 5am.

Ds now sixteen has slept a full night on a handful of occasions. His current bedtime is around 3.30am and gets up happily before seven.Sometimes he doesn't bother to sleep at all (at least once or twice a week)
Dd who is 8 is usually awake until 11pm, in fact last night came down at 11.30 for another book. She got up at 7.30 full of the joys of spring.

My 11 year old doesn't sleep til about 10.30pm and has never seemed to need that much sleep. I'm not sure if it's due to finding it difficult to get to sleep or a genuine lack of tiredness. But definitely common!

My 16 yr old goes to bed about 11.30-midnight and is always after a cup of tea by 6.30am.
He has never needed the full 8 hours thing. I waited ages for him to go all teenagery and stay in bed till noon, never happened.

springlamb: You just busted a myth that I had been clinging to in hope! Smile

Ds is 10......asleep by 10.30pm if I'm lucky. I've given up trying any earlier.

DS 14 is usually still awake at 11pm and is always awake by 7.00am. Banned him from going downstairs to play on computer / PS3 before 7.45 in hope that would encourage him to sleep in later but no such luck. AM concerned about what will happen when he refuses to go to bed before us - can't be relied upon to turn everything off - in fact probably wouldn't bother going to bed at all!
