Does anyone live in an area with a decent ASD outreach team?

I mean a team which actually meets the child and supports him/her.

A team which offers regular support rather than one-off referrals?

Anyone?

Lol, just got Bums ABA policy. They will fund it upon a request from a school, not a parent.

does a request form an ABA school count Grin

Lol. Dunno.

Also found out than an ex treehouse employee got a position as a tribunal panelist. Also that some other ABA knowledgable people been recruited too.
Coz the ABA stuff was getting messy and time consuming.

Yes1 we have a fabulous team in Brent - they are Brent Outreach Autism Team. The cuts are starting to hit them now but they are still absolutely wonderful and really supportive.

do you mean as turncoats?

I too have heard that the number of previosuly pro-ABA, now recruited onto the LA side to work against ABA is on the increase.

it does not bode well for our fight.

In Nottinghamshire we have ECAP for Pre-school children which works realy well in my opinion. DS's specialist teacher comes to visit once a week and does a specific portage programme with him. Its really helped him and the scheme has been extended so that she will stay with him until the end of KS1.

We have an Autism team within the county for older children which you can be refered to by an EP, but there are alot fo people who get turned down.

There was an article about Brent's BOAT in the Council's monthly magazine a couple of months ago and the woman who set it up was featured - the article is on page 25 of the magazine here.

Our LEA schools outreach has been pretty useless with DS2 however we also have PCT school age autism service which is fantastic, brilliant OT,& psych even have their own specialist SALT.
They go in to school, work with the teacher, TA & DS2, is all co-ordinated by his community paed & consultant psych and.... wait for it..... actual therpay!! Brilliant!
