Hi everyone, how's life been?

we had first (not done by mummy) hair cut this week, with the application of lots of snacks and our lovely hairdresser, who picked a really quiet time, (and was prepared to take him upstairs to the flat it he didn't cope) ds managed really well, and looks very neat.

DS has also decided he does like flip flops, (didn't like the toe post) and has walked around in them saying 'fippy fops' to himself, Grin

and i have lost (tum tiddy tum tum tum tum!) nearly a stone, (or did I tell you all that last week??) anyway v v proud, (lots more to go tho,) Blush.

and as dh is away i get to keep the computer on this evening and don't have to rush away and watch Dr Who, Grin Wink

Justa, sorry to hear ds2 has been poorly. Ds1's school sounds amazing.

Sign, that's basically what I'm doing, have cut out all the junk from my diet - trying to stick to fresh and nutritious rather than processed alternatives and am entering everything into My Fitness Pal which is a free online food and exercise log that helps you track your weight and calories etc. I've found it really useful for keeping me on track. My main exercise is walking - am trying to get back up to 5 miles a minimum of 3 times a week - but am currently just grateful to be able to walk again after finally emerging from months of CFS crisis. Am also trying to be generally more active rather that spending too much time sitting on my bum and mnetting being sedentary.

Ellen, what a shame about ds's TA - madness for the school to lose all that experience. Glad the transition visits went well.

As for the friend, I've been caught out like that with my sister several times over different partners, its a real. As justabout said, unless she's a good friend, I would try not to worry about it.

auntevil · 24/06/2011 19:48

Good evening to all of you - and a slightly smaller sized good evening to all of you who are slightly smaller sized than when i last got on to the Friday night thread!
Ninja - on different 'beverages' now eh? Cup of tea not enough at this time of day?! Smile
Good week. OT saw DS1 and says he has classic SID. We knew, but its good that i'm not as mad as might appear and that someone else agrees!
DS3 has got a date for an op at GOSH - to help his swallowing problems and DS2 got certificates for mental maths and spelling. He wouldn't have got an award for not soiling at school (2 out of 3 DS today soiled!) but hey, nothing in life is ever perfect!
Good week in the land of 'evil' Grin

dietcoke, I am one of those people that can't have even a tiny bit of something nice when I'm dieting or I'll fall off the wagon. I need to cut out everything and be really virtuous from the word go. I'm loving the Pukka detox tea at the moment though, its really tasty and I'm convinced it helps with the weightloss.

Ds1's school is sounding good - glad the transition meeting went well.

Ineed, well done your dd's - you must be very proud of them both.

I'm loving hearing all the positive school related news on this thread. Smile

Auntevil, pleased to hear you've also had a good week.

Lenin, yet more positive school related news - we seem to be on a roll this week. Grin

Whatever did you find to watch on tv? Dh and I go through the listings every now and then but can never find anything watching.

auntevil · 24/06/2011 19:59

I know what you mean Moosemama - the whole raft of satellite tv and we struggle. That's probably why DH plays x box while i do the ironing watching re-runs

signandsmile · 24/06/2011 19:59

all the good school news is really encouraging, Grin

OP posts:
moosemama · 24/06/2011 20:04

It is isn't it. I'm finding it really encouraging.

Despite my run-in with ds's teacher earlier in the week, I am feeling surprisingly positive about his school at the moment. The new SENCO seems really good, is really on ds's side and as she's also an Assistant Head I'm hoping things are going to continue to improve next year.

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 24/06/2011 20:06

Hi all

Moose well done on the weight loss

Lenin Your son is doing so well

Justa and Ineedalife Pleased that the school moves have been so positive for you.

Sign Amazing weight loss too

and to everyone else here's some Wine

Mixed week at chez ben. Finally got a diagnosis after 8 months off sick so looking like I will be having an operation. Got to see the vascular surgeon but probably will involve removing a rib, some of a vertebra and some muscle so will be long horrid recovery. Pleased to get a dx though! Best of all, my new meds can be accompanied by Wine Grin

Rubbish time wasting EP visit where he didn't even observe or assess DS. Will be interesting to see what report he sends us when he can be bothered in August.

Just left my car in the multi storey while we attempted a restaurant meal that wasn't fast food and yet again DS just ate bread. Got back to the carpark to find it had been locked 5 minutes before. Dread to think how much I'll have to pay in the morning!

Won't be posting much tonight as v sore but will lurk with a Wine!

Chundle · 24/06/2011 20:07

Evening all hope you kiddies are well. Dd2 had paed this week he didn't even look at her but said he's worried about her behaviour and will refer to different paed to assess for asd. He also seemed mighty pissed off that we had used private salt!! Why don't they like this!

Dd2s psychologist said if she is dx with asd she will resign from her job as she thinks def not asd!

I feel like pulling dd2 out the system totally and keeping her with me until she can cope in the big world.

Dd1 bit a boys finger today.

And I am bolloxed so off to bed soon!

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 24/06/2011 20:07

The school news all makes me think even more what should be happening for DS so pushes me even more to push for what he deserves. Keep it coming ladies!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 24/06/2011 20:08

Ineedalife, what a nice group your choir sound. Good luck with the performances.

DietCokeGirl, I'm at the other end of primary school with DS, and doing transitions to secondary! But I know how you're feeling. Primary went really well for my DS, yours is already sounding positive. Smile

Hi Auntevil. Know where you are coming from with the soiling, unfortunately. Even supposedly NT DS3 has problems with that. He's just gone off to his 1st cub camp with loads of pants and plastic bags just in case!

Lenin, whoo hoo! What a positive week. (What 2 programmes?)

Thanks, moose. The head hasn't even told DS's TA himself, the slimy git. I think she had too much time off sick, and was the only TA on a temporary contract (like mine, only runs while DC is in school) so was the easiest way to save money. Except she's a single mum, been great with DS and has always been the class TA really, no other one on the class since juniors.

Ben10 - what a nightmare - not so much bread eating as the carpark. Definitely pull whatever card you like to get any extra charge knocked off.
Sad re EP for you too and your own dx. only good news for you seems to be the [wine[ with the meds

Vroomfondel · 24/06/2011 20:11

i'm back from tennis pickup and one beer down. phew.

my friend collered me to let me know that DD has told all her friends about her AS diagnosis and they were all very cool with it (DD is best mates with her DD).

She constantly surprises me.

more beer calling.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 24/06/2011 20:21

Ben10, that sounds horrendous! Hope it sorts you out. Are you on a waiting list?

Chundle, lovely psychologist you have there? Hmm Whose finger did he bite, (sounds like a song) and did he deserve it?

Vroom, how fab for your DD. She's one cool lady!

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 24/06/2011 20:25

Thanks Auntevil The wine is calling!

Ellen Luckily I have private medical insurance as still employed although on long term sick so shouldnt be too long before I am seen.

Chundle Sounds like DS should have bitten one of the medical professionals finger!

signandsmile · 24/06/2011 20:28

I like the 'whose finger did he bite', ds said today after bath before bed clothes 'look, look!' and i found him with big bird hand puppet, with the beak 'biting' his willy, he thought this was hilarious! Grin

ben10 that does sound traumatic, and sending you good thoughts

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 24/06/2011 20:30

Just checked the carpark tariff and as we live in a scabby deprived part of the SE, it is only £3 overnight. That's cheered me up!

I'm pleased to get the dx as was starting to think all the symptoms were pyscho-somatic! Arm is giving up now so back to lurking Grin

asdx2 · 24/06/2011 20:40

Well for me the stress is unbearable tbh. We are pressing on with JR, LA are wriggling and squirming and now saying that the letter detailing that they didn't intend to amend the statement wasn't quite right, they are considering amending the statement in light of ds's post 16 provision (so in fact the deadline passed and there has been no progress)
But regardless ds has a place at his current provision for September (how does that work?) Only the school and the LIO haven't been told about it.
What's thoroughly depressing on top is that the legal dept at the LEA haven't even managed to get the name of the school right and yet I'm supposed to believe they are competent Angry
The positives are that ds is coming back to me, he's happier and talking again and behaviour wise a dream such a transformation now he is free of school.
The school are prepared to put their necks on the line and supply information that will help our case, particularly information regarding the very specific remit of the unit that the LEA are now disregarding and the HT allowed the staff of the unit time out during the Inset day to prepare stuff to aid my solicitor. He will put his name to the reports so I'm assuming Academy status means that he is feeling less obliged to toe the party line Grin
Off on holiday tomorrow, still haven't packed and will need to take the laptop as I have more stuff to collate. So much for a relaxing break.

Chundle · 24/06/2011 20:47

Ben10 yes she should've might have it them to agree a bi more

Sign that made me chuckle.

Night all x

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 24/06/2011 20:48

Hi asdx2. Still keeping everything crossed. Glad the old unit are being helpful. Is post exam relief a factor for your DS?

signandsmile · 24/06/2011 20:51

hi asd2 have been following your travails, their sheer crappness is shocking

OP posts:
moosemama · 24/06/2011 20:52

Ben10, am pleased for you that you got a dx, I know what its like to worry that noone believes your symptoms or they might be psychosomatic. All the same - the op sounds pretty full on. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

asd, it souns unbelievably stressful - honestly I don't know how these LAs are able to act in such a crap and unlawful way without getting penalised. Its makes me so Angry! Pleased to hear that the school is being supportive and standing up to their own LEA.

Good to hear that s is relaxing now he's off school. I can't wait to get my ds back in the summer holidays.

Enjoy your holiday and don't work too hard - we all need some downtime or we burn out and that helps no-one.
