well it looked bad, she basically ran over, legs went in 2 different directions and she skidded across the playground. lots of gasps from other mums but not me. i knew she was ok as she didnt cry, just went 'oops'. the other mums looked at me, and isaid 'she has hypotonia so falls alot, she is used to it', then just checked she wasnt bleeding. felt wierd saying it, but at least now i can sort of explain dd2 falls and my non-reaction to them.

I always gasp when a child falls, but it usually looks worse than it is. Glad she wasn't hurt.

Do you think she has developed a high pain threshold as a result of her problems ? Think youa re right to deal with it in a matter of fact fashion or she'd be forever in tears.

ds has various sensory and motor issues but we have noticed over the past couple of years that his pain tolerance is high - he had his first filling the other day, no anaesthetic but didn't flinch and has had ear drum perforations and infections with little registration of the expected pain.

she has a very high pain threshold, rarely do we get real cries, she doesnt notice most cuts so we have to check when she does fall as she has had a few infected cuts as we just didnt see them and clean them quick enough.
