Hi all, how's the half term been for everyone?

DS has been a bit of a star and there have been great developments.

Altho going off to sleep has been a bit 'trying' Hmm. DH has been a bit wobbly this week, so quite a bit of falling over. (did have to rescue him at one point when he fell over and ds went over stroked him, (lovely) and then sat on his head (not so lovely!)

and, tum tiddy tum tum tum tum! (fanfare) Sign is off to sea, I have (nearly 3 whole days to myself at butlins next week.) All is set up for ds and dh, and I fully intend to flollop shamelessly. Grin

Hi signandsmile, we have had a fab half term, I am usually working but it has been lovely spending time at home.

Have a great time at Butlins next week

signandsmile · 03/06/2011 18:10

thank you! has the weather been good where you are ?

It's been fab here it's so lovely and bright and I think I'm going to ignore the fact that I haven't tidied up as we have been out for the day and have a glass of wine outdoors in the sunshine instead of tidying up!

We also had a real shock yesterday, we always have to fight for everything but a lovely orthotics lady has agreed to reinstate our child's specialist footwear without needing any persuasion, it maybe something small but feels like winning the lottery given everything else is such a battle!

signandsmile · 03/06/2011 18:24

I get the 'joy of orthotics' Grin (DH used to have his boots made and now has AFO's (which are fine until they snap, and you have to wait weeks for the next set to be moulded and re-cast.)

Wine trumps tidying in my book too! Grin

Evening, great to hear of all little sign's positive developments - makes up for my crap half-term.

Am very Envy of your break - I feel desperately in need of escaping my crowd, for the sake of my sanity. Alas tis the dreaded toilet training with dd next week, so its not to be. Peppa Pig pants - check, bright spotty pants - check - half a dozen trainer pants - check, travel potty and liners - check, brand new family toilet seat with mini seat that clips into lid - check, book of toilet training reward stickers - check, 2 year old dd who is ridiculously excited about going on the toilet - check. So it seems we are good to go. Both boys were dry from day one with no accidents, but something tells me, 1. I can't possibly get that lucky three times and 2. Theres no way dd is going to be that cooperative. Hmm Am dreading it.

Hope you have a great time and come back refreshed, glowing and brimming with peace and tranquility. Grin

We have all been trapped in the house with the virus from hell this week. Everyone else was pretty much better bar a few sniffles by Wednesday, but mine is still rumbling on. Hmm

All this beautiful sunshine and I've been trapped in my dark, north-facing living room with a jumper on. Sad

Still, we are putting up the tents in the garden tomorrow in anticipation of a forthcoming camping trip with our friends and their dcs in a couple of week's time. Not sure whether to look forward to it or dread it, it'll be us, 3 dcs and 2 dogs plus them and their two. They have never camped before, obviously my ds1 has AS, their ds has an as yet undxd developmental disorder, speech problems and dyspraxia, dd is at that lovely 2 year old - no volume control - age and between them the noise levels can sometimes be, errrr, a bit - well, you get the picture. It will be a miracle if we're not thrown off the site. Blush We have a plan though - 4 out of 5 of the dcs are taking their dsi's so that should keep them all quiet for at least an hour a day and if necessary may be used to ensure peace is maintained until a reasonable get-up time in the morning. Actually, come to think of it, I've decided - I'm definitely dreading it. Grin

We are also off to do some WWII research for ds1 at a local museum this weekend, to try and inspire his classwork a bit.

Ooo - I did sign the boys up for Maths Whizz this holiday on the advice of some of you lovely ladies and they are seriously loving it. Even better - it means an extra half an hour each of peace for me and as they sit and watch each other, that actually adds up to a whole hour of peace in the morning and another hour for ds time in the afternoon. Grin

Have ordered the Tony Buzzan mind mapping for kids book as well, in the hope we can teach ds1 some mind mapping techniques over the summer. We're hoping it will help his general organisation skills, but in particular how he plans and structures written work.

Well, I thought I had nothing to say this evening, but appear to have done my usual essay. Blush

I'll shut up now!

not all moose, sorry to hear you have had the lurgy, bummer with the weather being nice, I am interested to hear how the camping goes as we are going to try it out, in grandma's garden first and then if it goes ok for a weekend with friends.

Moosemama so sorry your week hasn't been so good but maybe camping won;t be as bad as you think the dsi seems like a very good plan to me, I knwo what you mean about the nightmare of toilet training, our ds is five (he has cp and developmental issues)and we are still persevering but have had a fair few accidents this half term.

signandsmile AFOs sound a bit of a nightmare! Not that I have any idea what AFO means but if they break they would be no good in this household!

yay justa fab!

dire sorry! Blush, do you know I have forgotten what AFO stands for!! Blush, the O is orthotic tho. (basically leg braces, under foot, and up the back to back of knee, he managed to snap one falling at the seaside last year, I had him in a heap on the floor and ds (ASD and LD) on the other arm pulling to get to the sea....) Am in awe of you ladies with more than one kid with SN, Smile

loueytb3 had a baby boy yesterday. It's a bit early, and a bit tiny - but doing absolutely fine.

Justa - Respite? Brilliant news ( well except that it would be even better if you didn't need respite....)

It's been a lovely sunny day here. DS has done his first session of cranial osteopath. I was very pleased with it. He came out sleepy and cuddly. Fingers crossed it does more than that :)

Becaroooo · 03/06/2011 19:26

moose You have my sympathies...I am currently full of snot, have a hacking cough, fever and headache and have been like it since tuesday.

Very, very fed up Sad

Ds1 has been having AIT since last friday - only 2 more sessions to go - but I am worried....not really seen much improvement yet Sad

Nightmare week this week really....ds2 tantruming for England, ds1 tired from AIT, me ill, my poor little nephew fell and broke his arm which has had to be wired back together Sad and I am stressed out with moving house matters.

Hey. Could be worse, right??

Have a lovely weekend ladies x

OP posts:
signandsmile · 03/06/2011 20:28
