I just want ds in school, I'm going mad

School have said they can only have DS for afternoons. We're on week 2 of this. Since the week before Easter he's done 1 week half days due to injury. Then 2.5 weeks home for Easter holidays. 4 full days. 4 days at home due to injury. Then back but half days. He's still half days. He's well enough to be in school full-time. Drs say he should be there full-time. He's just broken his arm. I'm going mad with him at home. I can't take any more. He's basically just bouncing around the house and destroying everything including my sanity. And yes he's like this at school and I suspect they're using this as an excuse to not have to cope with him. I want to apply for a statement for him but CAMHS told me to hang fire another month but in the mean time I don't have him in school full time. I'm going mad. He's only just turned 5 btw so he doesn't legally need to be in school.

I've not missed your point! My lad is also statemented and his slipping through the net hasn't been down to lack of flag waving on my part.

Bochead, how do you mean flag waving on your part??

If a Statement isn't that important, why was I asked by every single school I visited "does he have a Statement?". I disagree, for 4 years after diagnosis, we didn't have one, just "banded funding" which gave minimal hours of TA input. One of the persons who was quite influential in our NOT getting the statement was the scholl Ed Psych. He wrote two reports stating why a statement was not appropriate for my ds HAVING NEVER MET HIM IN PERSON but just going off school correspondence/reports. As soon as we got this Statement.....my goodness, all the help you could shake a stick at came in!!

That is my personal experience.

and thats exactly what I mean, statement or not some kiddies still get left behind. Meaning the statement worked for you, but there's 2 of us on this thread who's kids have been statemented for some considerate length of time and not getting help.

Well then, you have to state that you don't agree with the content of the statement or, if you have Ok'd it, you have to bang on the desk if the Statement isn't adhered to.

It gives you rights and a voice with regard to your child's education.
