As Ds has got older his needs have got difficult to explain. I want an assessment done to identify all his difficulties in all areas and assess them as a whole. Who do I need to see? He has seen quite a few professionals but feel I need it all drawn together. I got the GP to refer him to cdc but got rejected.

Who else sees his needs and difficulties? If there are several different agencies like education and health who have concerns in addition to you then you could request a CAF assessment.

Bibic?

Thanks. I tried to get a CAF but SENCO said no. He sees salt, ot, ent, audiology, hospital (for severe constipation due to dev delay. He has speech and language difficulties, motor skill difficulties, visual processing etc. OT recently mentioned possibly motor planning or auditory processing. I feel in the dark.

Though about Bibic and tried to contact them quite a long time ago but they didn't get back to me. Then I found out about them no charging a sum I can not afford.

Request a statutory assessment?

I did but school didn't want to. I am really nervous about school reaction to this.

2Siobahn don't worry about the school you can request the assessment directly of your LA, what are the school's reasons for not wanting an assessment?

The issues you mention can require different assessment and diagnostic professionals. You will require a Multi Discipline (multi professional) assessment, which is a new concept here in the UK.
The medical issues will require GP referrals, may be first to your local hospital and other consultants, and then to regional or national specialist centres to assess some of the more complex issues.
Sensory processing problems, motor coordination problems, etc are all medically or clinically diagnosed, and these medical disabilities can become learning disabilities as they affect our learning abilities of lack of them. Which is why many of these issues are important when we are school. SENCos are not medically trained so they are qualified to identify any medical condition, and some SENCos are not even qualified teachers, Next tern a new legal requirement for All SENCos to be qualified teachers, some are purely administrators who have no understanding at all of the issues or problems involved.
So your GP should be you main priority and then take the medical reports to the school. We have done this, taken the Multi -Discipline Assessment from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) regarding our youngest son to his new secondary school, and they are having to act on it, and the local support services have been with GOSH regarding their recommendations.
This is all pioneering stuff, but it has to be the way forward to defeat the current high levels of local professional ignorance.
