Hiya. I have been winging a behaviouralist approach myself for so many years, and it has been helping (I do have some relevant training and experience so it's not completely made up). But it's clearly time to move beyond ABC charts 'in my head'. This is partly because what i need to teach now is becoming more complex, but also because I want to track progress in case of tribunals etc. I do a fair bit of simple operant conditioning with a bit of response prevention and a touch of shaping. It's mor necessary at home than school really becaus not only are ADLs harder than academics, but he holds it in at school.
I've learned loads from here, and moondog deserves a special thank you. Ideally I'd like to find a book that is an alevel version of the bangor MA curriculum (yes I know it probably doesn't exist). And maybe i should be looking for an ABA consultant / trainer / mentor to help with the switch to a more formal approach.
