I remember reading on here a while ago that if your child has a dx or sn you can apply for fast track passes or even reduced rates i think.

Does anyone have a link or any info on where to apply please?

At Legoland you take proof of dx with you and Guest Services stamp everyone's hands.

Claw3 · 17/05/2011 15:46

Really Al1son, as easy at that and Legoland was exactly were i was thinking of going, brilliant, thanks.

have a look here and download the info, it's changed recently I believe. If you provide proof of disability, carer gets in free but sometimes if you have vouchers it's not worth it so chaeck first.

hi yes try this link : www.merlinsmagicwand.org/

for free tickets for days out they ask for proof of disability and i received 5 completely free tickets to thorpe park but merlin own quite a few different places so you can ask for which place you want HTH

I got 3 free passes for Legoland through Merlinsmagicwand too. Just waiting for them to turn up!

Claw3 · 17/05/2011 16:49

Oh thank you very much, that will be very helpful, there are 4 of us and it costs the same price as a mini holiday!

I also got tickets from Merlin and the kids can't wait to go again! There is vouchers on Kellogs cereal and Tesco are giving buy one get one vouchers out if you are a clubcard holder as well. Trying to work out if the vouchers will be cheaper to use for entry at the momeent rather than the carer entry.

Also some theme parks don't just accept dla notice/carers notices on their own anymore so take the dx and maybe handy to use the cinema card as additional photo id to (just in case).

yes, as others have said:

take proof of disability with you (I have always used a copy of Statement, as lists all needs and dx) - the policy is "people who do not understand the concept of queuing". person with a dx gets a red hand stamp. others get a black hand stamp.

the red stamped person must be going on the ride ot take advantage of the system.

then you either enter via the fastpass entrance, or via the exit. there can be a small wait (eg 10 mins or so while other fastpass users get on, or while you wait for a ride to finish/empty)

and that's it.

it's brilliant, and has really saved our days out more than once.

Oh right ds does get DLA and mobility allowance, doesnt have a statement (yet) and his dx is about 10 pages long.

Wassup i dont have a cinema card?

Do you have a letter that mentions the dx? We used one that was written to the comm paed about DD1 saying she was being assessed for AS the first time. After that we took a copy of her DX report although I do wonder if you could use a photocopy.

Claw3 · 17/05/2011 18:50

Im sure i must have a letter somewhere that mentions that he has ASD etc. Or perhaps i could just the first page which lists his dx's and difficulties in bullet points? The other 10 pages is history from birth etc, etc.

Hi there we have just been to Legoland and they were very specific on what evidence was needed. We asked for a letter from our Gp stating his condition and it also stated "his parents have reported that ds cannot tolerate queueing and ask that this be taken into account in relevant situations"
The staff told me on the phone that the letter must specify that queueing cannot be tolerated due to his disability and be dated this year. Also I got in free as his carer (he was charged at usual child rate) which covered the cost of the doctors letter!

HTH

Some places want photo id some don't - actually it can come down to who actually see's you in guest services and how jobsworthy they are. When I went they were fine with my children's dla letters and their dx as additional evidence.

Cinema card is £6 a year and carer gets in free with it to most cinemas. Very handy for the early Saturday morning £1 showing when the cinema is also quite quiet.

Merlin venues specify a evidence of a social communication difficulty or a letter in regard of difficulty queueing. They have added in wanting photo id because some people have been borrowing their friends childrens dla letter.

TheHumanCatapult · 18/05/2011 04:18

Yes Second Merlin cards you need a dx or something similar eg statement stating what the problems are .We dont do photo id but we have merlin passes anyway

Claw3 · 18/05/2011 07:36

Thanks very much everyone, much appreciated.
