Hi Tinkbig

Those things could be a sign of dyspraxia which my son who is 5.11 was recently diagnosed with. Have you had a look at the Dyspraxia Foundation website to see if any of the other symptoms on there sound familiar?

If you are concerned, you can either ask your school or GP to refer you to the Child Development Centre where they will be able to assess her by doing lots of fun games like jumping, threading etc.

OK, what I did was I pasted that list into Word and under each one I wrote how DS fit the criteria. I then went to the doctors and gave him the list and asked him to be referred.

The wait for assessment varies hugely across the country from a few weeks to longer - we had to wait 6 weeks.

I would also discuss it with the school as they may be able to include your DD on their Fizzy programme (which is exercises for improving fine and gross motor skills) even before DD is assessed/DXed. DS absolutely loves Fizzy esp as it is on a 1 adult to 2 child ratio and he thrives on attention Grin

The dr can start you on the road to diagnosis via a referral to the correct person.

But school need to help him if he needs it and they don't need a diagnosis for that. So talk to the SENCO about what school can do to help him.

A dx won't bring any / much help for you. Mostly just piece of mind and a word to google and research.
