physio has said dd2 has hypotonia and is hyperflexable in her joints, which is ewhy she has the problems she has. she has problems with food (gags then refuses to eat, vomited solidly from birth but still is a larger child, def not failure to thrive) and speech is unclear. not sure if speech probs warrent SALT, but tbh i'm clueless in all this. If she does need SALT who do i contact?
Gotta do physio each day(i think), another appointment in a month.

but as physio diagnosed do i need to go back to paed, remember he said there was nothing wrong?

will paed contact me, or do i need to go back to gp to get another referral as paed discharged dd2 back to gp care?

i am so confused with it all.

Misdee,
you need to go back to your pead and tell him/her what the physio has told you as it important that they keep up to date with these things.
Also get your physio to contact them in regards to making you another appointment with the pead and also ask for the specialist HV as she will be able to refer you on to other things and she can also help with things like DLA forms etc...
You seriosly need to raise your concerns about DD's speech as you as the mother are far more aware of any problems than what the peads are in a general 1 hr appointment!!!!!!
I just don't think that they get it sometimes and that is why so many children with SN and their parents have to wait so long to be heard and then something done about it!!!!! GRRRRRR it makes me really mad at times.
They are meant to be there to listen and then help, not just discharge you with out going down all the proper routes, even if it is just for assessment and then nothing appears to be wrong, at least you have your peace of mind!!!

misdee-my dd was discharged from the paed back in march of this year as they "werent concerned" with her failure to stand or attempt walking or crawling- HA!

I KNEW something wasnt right and mithered my HV to death and she told me to ask for a referral, so i went back to my gp and she referred me straightaway, int he meantime dd was admitted to hospital for seizures and a lot of the tests, etc were done that week, probably because they realised they,d messed up,BUT once you have been discharged you have to get your gp to rerefer u im afraid.

Misdee, ds1 was also discharged by Paed seconds after a diagnosis of Aspergers. We've been stuck back on the waiting list to see him (9 months) but as some will now, Sam has serious problems with violence / not sleeping etc. IME you will have to fight to get dd back onto the Paeds list, because if it's not life threatening or whatever, it's easier for them to send you back to the GP.

Sorry, I know that's not what you need to hear at the moment with everything else.

misdee · 10/11/2005 15:59

thanks, totally not what i need to hear, but gp is pretty good and will refer back i think quite easily, no idea on tha waiting list tho, think it was about 3months last time.

dd2 had a massive puking session in my dads car, its getting tedious, all she has to do is gag and she pukes. to look at her and see that she is tall and heavey you wouldnt think she'd have these vomiting issues.

Physio, Paed etc should be copying all reports and letters to your GP anyway so that should help.

misdee · 10/11/2005 16:32

i should hopefully get a copy as well then.

Have you considered asking for a CDC sweetie?
When I realised that toad had speech problems that was the first thing that was offered to see if there were any underlying problems causing his speech delays ( which now we know there was!!)

misdee · 13/11/2005 18:01

do i contact hv for that?
