What do the tiers of CAMHS mean?

we had a recent hospital appt for DD2 and the registrar asked me what tier of CAMHS she was in. I had no idea and felt a bit of a numpty.

So can anyone explain it to me please?

DD2 is currently being assessed for ASD, seeing a psychologist for therapeutic input for anxiety and a CAMHS OT for sensory processing issues. I don't know if that's relevant.

I had no idea about tiers either yet ds is under CAMHS.

Does that table on the link basically say that if your child is seeing any of the people listed in tier 3 that your child is at tier 3 of CAMHS?

Thank you Peaceflower. I guess that as DD1 is working with a Psychiatrist and a Clinical Psychologist and DD2 is seen by 2 clinical psychologists as well as the OT they are both in tier three.

I would guess that you Dd's are at tier 3 Al1son.

My Dd3 has worked her way through the tiers so we have been cleary informed as she has gone through, We are now on a waiting list for tier 3 where we will be seeing a consultant psychiatrist[hopefully]. Well that is what we have been told anyway.

What are your CAMHS like? Do you have a contact person that you could phone, just to put your mind at restSmile.

Our CAMHS are lovely but very pushed for time.

I have a one hour appt with DD2's clin psych in the 25th so I will ask her then. That will be if I remember amongst the dozens of other questions I will be needing to ask by then.

It's dreadful that such an important service is so underfunded that they are constantly trying to do more than the time allows. The staff themselves have been amazing but clearly would like to do more.
