Because ds hurt himself so badly a month ago whilst sleep walking we had an urgent referal to OT for safety advice. She came and saw the challenge my ds is on a day to day basis and was really very concerned. She wanted to have him assessed by the local paed ot who specialises in sensory disorders but as we're in the CAMHS system at the moment decided to contact them 1st. But she did get safety equipement into the house for night-times.

She rang today to see how we are going with the equipement. I told her about ds's latest injury of a broken arm and what the A&E dr said about 5 injuries in 5 months needing hospital treatment looking suspicious. She immediatly said I wasn't to worry at all. If child protection are called they'll immediately see that there is an open CAF and they'll see that we're supported by a large team who are trying to work out whats going on. She said I wasn't to give it another thought and they would support us Smile. She said that she could see from observing him he was an accident waiting to happen.

She asked some questions about his saving reflex and why it'd never been investigated as to why it doesn't exist and why no one has ever investigated why sometimes he just falls for no apparent reason. She's wondering if he needs a full neurological examination to rule anything out. She's promised me she was going to call CAMHS straight away and inform them of this latest injury and ask them exactly what they are doing on the above points.

She was so nice. Its really nice to have a professional who can see it as it is and fight for help. I just wanted to share with you because I sometimes feel I only post negative things and this really has brightened my rather hard day.

That's lovely, rebl. Smile Sometimes we all need a supportive professional who helps to guide us through the procedures and help us shortcut them when necessary. My DS had a fantastic SALT, who was the first to recognise his difficulties and she went the extra mile to help us get him into a special early years school. They are out there.

And sorry for pointing out that the hospital was being 'funny' with you, last night. Didn't mean to upset you, just thought you ought to know.

No, don't worry EllenJane. Don't appaulagise, I appreciated it. I was already thinking it, you only said something I was wondering.
